Goal of the Competition
The aim of the joint research-educational program of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation (SRNSF) and Germany’s Forschungszentrum Jülich is to provide Georgian students the opportunity to conduct research related to their Master’s or Doctoral thesis, both in fundamental and applied directions, at the internationally renowned Forschungszentrum Jülich. Additionally, the program aims to strengthen the German side, attract the best students from Georgian universities, and integrate them into ongoing research within Master’s/Doctoral programs.

Main Competition Conditions
The competition and grant are open to Master’s and Doctoral students under 30 years of age at the time of the competition announcement, enrolled at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Georgian Technical University, Ilia State University, Agricultural University of Georgia, or other Georgian universities (with agreement with the Center).
Funding by Jülich Center and the Foundation is available for no more than 3 Master’s and 3 Doctoral students, who will have the opportunity to conduct research related to their thesis at the Center and collaborate with scientists from Jülich and other German research centers or universities in the following scientific areas:
- Mathematical Sciences
- Information Technologies
- Natural Sciences
- Engineering Sciences
- Life Sciences and Medical Sciences
For Master’s Students:
- The duration of the funded scientific internship must align with the curriculum of their Master’s program at their Georgian university.
- Monthly stipend for the research internship: €900 equivalent in GEL.
For Doctoral Students:
- The duration of the funded scientific internship is up to 3 years.
- Monthly stipend for the research internship: €1,400 equivalent in GEL.
- Funding is split: 50% by the Foundation, 50% by Forschungszentrum Jülich.

The registration is carried out in two stages:
- Electronic registration – from September 2, 2019, to October 15, 2019, 16:00 via email: juelich@rustaveli.org.ge
- Registration at the Foundation’s Secretariat – until October 16, 2019, 16:00
