The Scientific Council of the Independent Scientific Research Institute “Talgha” of the Georgian Technical University announces an open competition for the position of Director

The Scientific Council of the Independent Scientific Research Institute “Talgha” of the Georgian Technical University is holding an open competition for the position of Director of the Institute for a 5-year term:

I. Deadlines for receiving applications and conducting competitions

  1. Applications from candidates will be accepted from 1000 to 1700 on July 12-13, 2018 at the following address: Tbilisi, Kostava St. #77, Room #336, Tel.: 2 36 51 32, contact person Valerian Vachadze, Tel.: 599 14 54 13.
  2. The hearing of the candidates’ action programs will be held in the Scientific Council on July 16, 2018. Elections to the Scientific Council for the position of the Director of the Institute will be held on July 16, 2018, and the results of the elections will be announced by the Scientific Council on the same day. The results will be posted in a visible place in the Institute building and on the website of the university/institute. Applications/complaints regarding violations of the competition rules will be accepted by the Scientific Council until July 19 of the current year.
  3. The selected candidate for the director will be presented by the Institute’s Scientific Council to the Academic Council of the Georgian Technical University for approval.

II. Competition conditions

  1. Main conditions of the competition: A person who meets the requirements set for the chief scientific officer of this institute (doctoral or equivalent academic degree, at least 6 years of experience in scientific research activities) and whose age does not exceed 65 years, except when another possibility is directly provided for by the university charter, may be elected as the director of the institute.
  2. Additional qualification requirements for the competition will be posted on the university/institute’s website.
  3. A person wishing to participate in the competition must personally (or through a representative) submit: a) a duly completed and signed application and questionnaire (see the forms on the institute’s website), as well as documentation confirming the information presented in them: diploma, certificate, diploma, deed, reference, etc. (original and copy); b) a document confirming scientific/academic degree (original and copy); c) a document confirming scientific-research experience (internship) certified by the seal of the relevant organization/institution; d) a list of scientific papers certified by the signature and seal of a competent person of the relevant organization; e) an identity card (original and photocopy); f) 2 photographs 3×4; g) an action program.

III. Rules for conducting the competition

  1. The competition will be held in accordance with the Law of Georgia on Higher Education, the University Charter and the Institute/Center Regulations, which the contestant will be able to familiarize themselves with on the websites of the University and Institute/Center.
  2. The results of the competition can be appealed in court in accordance with applicable legislation.

Note: The Academic Council, by a qualified majority (2/3) of votes, by secret ballot, individually decides on the issue of participation in the competition for the position of Director – Administrative Officer by a person aged 65 and over. A person of the specified age must additionally submit the consent of the Academic Council to the relevant competition commission. For this purpose, he must submit an application to the University Chancellery from the date of publication of this announcement until July 2, 2018. The person’s presence at the Academic Council during the discussion of his issue is mandatory, otherwise the issue will not be discussed;
