A(A)IU – Georgian Technical University announces an open competition for academic positions A(A)IU Georgian Technical University (hereinafter referred to as the University) announces an open competition for the academic position of Full Professor (one staff unit) at the Department of Chemical and Biological Technologies of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy for a term of 4 years.
I. Deadlines for receiving applications and conducting the competition
Additional information and applications for those wishing to participate in the competition will be provided by the Competition Commission of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy (69 Kostava St., Building X, Room No. 406, Tel. 2 36 38 07), from December 3 to December 11, 2012, every day except for weekends and holidays, from 1000 to 1500, at the above-mentioned address.
The competition will be held on December 17, 2012. The results of the competition will be published by the competition commission on December 18, 2012, on the information board of the relevant competition commission and on the university website: / An employment contract will be signed with the winner of the competition from the second semester of the 2012-2013 academic year.
II. Competition conditions
1. Main conditions of the competition: – A person with a doctorate degree or an equivalent scientific degree, who has at least 6 years of experience in scientific and pedagogical work, may be elected as a full professor;
2. Anyone wishing to participate in the competition must submit to the relevant competition commission:
a) A duly completed and signed application and questionnaire (forms are issued by the competition commission), as well as documentation confirming the information presented in them: diploma, certificate, diploma, deed, reference, etc. (original or notarized copy and photocopy);
b) Document(s) confirming scientific-pedagogical experience (experience), certified by the seal of the relevant organization/institution;
c) Document confirming scientific/academic degree (original or notarized copy and photocopy), if any;
d) List of scientific and educational-methodical works (if any), certified by the signature and seal of a competent person of the relevant institution/organization (certification is also possible with the signature of the head of the relevant department of the university and the seal of the department/faculty);
e) Identity document (original and photocopy);
f) 2 photographs, 3X4.
III. Restrictions on participation in the competition
1. A person whose holding an academic position at a higher educational institution is restricted by applicable legislation shall not be allowed to participate in the competition. The issue of holding an academic position by a person aged 65 or over shall be decided individually by the Academic Council.
2. A person who works in another higher education institution in an academic position (full-time position), in case of winning this competition, will be obliged to be dismissed from the position or transferred to a half-time position before signing an employment contract.
IV. Rules for conducting the competition
1. The competition will be held in accordance with the Law of Georgia “On Higher Education”, the University Charter and the Regulation “On the Rules for Conducting Competitions for Academic Positions”, which the contestant will be familiar with at the competition commissions and on the university website.
2. The competition commission will take into account: the suitability of the candidate’s qualifications, competence and personality for the competitive position, including pedagogical, teaching-methodological and scientific-research activities relevant to the profile of the competitive position; other activities, achievements, qualifications, merit and reputation; as well as the results of the interview conducted with the candidate (s) by the competition commission (by decision of the commission or at the request of the candidate).
3. The results of the competition may be appealed in court, in accordance with applicable legislation.
