A(A)IP – Georgian Technical University announces

Open competition for the appointment of heads of scientific-structural units and scientific positions at the Georgian Center for the Study of Industrial Forces and Natural Resources (hereinafter referred to as the Center) for a term of 4 years

1. Head of the Department of Mineral and Energy Resources and Their Use, Senior Researcher – 1 staff unit. Senior Researcher of the same department – 3 staff units.

2. Head of the Department of Human and Natural-Recreational Resources, Their Use and Tourism, Senior Researcher – 1 full-time equivalent. Chief Researcher of the same Department – 1 full-time equivalent and Senior Researcher – 2 full-time equivalents.

3. Senior Researcher of the Department of Land, Water and Forest Resources, Their Use and Ecology – 3 full-time employees, Researcher – 1 full-time employee.

I. Deadlines for accepting applications and conducting the competition

Additional information and applications for those wishing to participate in the competition will be provided by the Competition Commission from July 25 to August 2, 2013, every day (except holidays and weekends) from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the following address: Tbilisi, 67 Kostava St., GTU Building 10, 5th Floor, Tel.: 2223216, 222 7666.

The competition for the positions of heads of the Center’s structural units will be held on August 7, 2013, and for ministerial positions – on August 12, 2013.

The results of the competition will be published on the center’s information board on the day of the relevant competition. Employment contracts will be signed with the winners of the competition from the date of the vacancy for the relevant position. I

I. Competition conditions

1. Main conditions of the competition:

a) A person may hold the position of a research assistant if he or she has a master’s degree or an equivalent degree;

b) A person may hold the position of senior scientific employee if he or she holds a doctorate or equivalent scientific degree;

c) A person may hold the position of Chief Scientific Officer if he or she holds a Doctoral academic degree or an equivalent scientific degree.

2. A person may hold the position of a scientific employee if he or she has at least 3 years of scientific work experience; while a person may hold the positions of a senior and chief scientific employee if he or she has at least 6 years of scientific work experience;

3. A person wishing to participate in the competition must submit a duly completed and signed application to the relevant competition commission, which must be accompanied by:

a) A copy of the applicant’s identity card;

b) Autobiography;

c) A copy of the diploma confirming the academic degree relevant to the position to be held, or an equivalent degree;

d) List of published scientific papers, including those published within the last 5 years;

e) a copy of one or more scientific papers/articles that, in the applicant’s opinion, best demonstrate his/her scientific potential/research skills;

f) Contact information of 3 scientists in the relevant field who can recommend the applicant (name, surname, telephone, fax, e-mail, address) (preferred);

g) List of scientific grants obtained (or implemented with his/her participation) (preferable);

h) List of patents, copyrights, licenses, acts of use and other supporting documentation related to scientific activities (preferable);

i) Those wishing to participate in the competition for the position of head of a structural unit of the Center must additionally present a vision for the development of the relevant scientific structural unit (research problems, expected results, necessary resources, etc.);

j) 2 photographs 3X4. III. Rules of the competition

1. The competition will be held in accordance with the Center’s regulations, the regulations on the rules for conducting competitions for the head of the Center’s structural unit and scientific positions, which the contestant will familiarize himself with at the Center’s competition commission.

2. The competition will take into account: the suitability of the candidate’s qualifications and competences for the competitive position, including scientific and research activities relevant to the profile of the competitive position, other achievements and merits, as well as the results of the interview.

3. The results of the competition may be appealed in accordance with applicable legislation.
