Competition among bachelor’s and master’s students of the Georgian Technical University ”

“Original solution”

The goal of the competition is to identify students endowed with innovative talents, who will subsequently receive comprehensive support: an individual study schedule will be assigned; special educational and cognitive programs will be developed for them; they will be involved in solving and implementing scientific, applied, problematic issues. Outstanding students will join the “GTU Creators Club”, whose members will receive named scholarships and a university graduation diploma, which will mention their innovative activities.

Other competitions will be held to identify students with innovative talents (starting from the new academic year). This time, one competition task has been selected:

• Warning device. When leaving the house, you may leave household electrical appliances (iron, washing machine, lamp, etc.) turned on, which, of course, is undesirable. Create a “device” (system) that will provide you with information (audio or visual) about what (which) device is turned on. The presentation of the competition work must be made in PowerPoint. It must include a detailed description of the “device” (system) (functional, structural diagrams, etc.). The report must necessarily contain a brief overview of the current state of the competition topic in the world). The contestant must create a working model of the presented “device” (system). It is desirable to present a business plan for the realization of the project.

• Compose and present future competition assignments. The topic is unlimited (you can submit a competition assignment at any time). As an example, we offer one of the implemented projects – “Television Tower in Beijing”, which is taken from the “Discovery” video archive  (click here to view the video) (The material was prepared by students: David Kipshidze (Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems) and Nodar Chachkhian (Faculty of Civil Engineering). As a rule, the implementation of an innovative competitive task requires the creation of a group that unites students of various specialties: electricians, computer scientists, mechanics, etc. The “Service for Promoting Innovative Activities of Young Scientists and Students” will help you organize such a group. We would also like to note that, in general, you can offer us a surreal-fantastic way (in the form of a computer simulation model) to solve a particular competitive task. Legal protection of intellectual property objects. The results of your work will be protected by the “Patent Law of Georgia” and the “Law of Georgia on Copyright and Related Rights”.
