Georgian Technical University (hereinafter the University) announces an open competition for a 6-year term for academic positions at the Faculty of Medicine (Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor).

Qualification Requirements:

Foundational Direction:

  • Professor: Doctoral or equivalent degree in the relevant field; at least 6 years of scientific-pedagogical experience; published scientific works (last 5 years) in the relevant course area; experience developing the course syllabus.

Note: Applicants must deliver a demonstration lecture in English.

Clinical Directions:

  • Professor: Doctoral degree or equivalent; at least 6 years scientific-pedagogical experience in higher education; last 9 years clinical experience; published scientific works in relevant course areas (last 5 years); course syllabus development experience; relevant specialty certificate.
  • Associate Professor: Doctoral or equivalent; at least 3 years experience in authorized higher education institutions; last 5 years clinical experience; published works in relevant courses (last 5 years); course syllabus development experience; specialty certificate.
  • Assistant Professor: Doctoral or equivalent; published works in relevant courses (last 5 years); last 5 years clinical experience; course syllabus development experience; specialty certificate.

Note: Applicants must deliver a demonstration lecture in English.

  1. Application form specifying the relevant field and academic position, and questionnaire.
  2. CV in Georgian and English
  3. Identity document (original and copy)
  4. Proof of academic qualifications, pedagogical experience, scientific experience, clinical experience, and state specialty certificate
  5. Relevant scientific publications (last 5 years) or copies
  6. Other additional documentation (if available)
  7. Course syllabi (electronic version)
  8. Two photos (3×4 cm)
  9. Certificate of no criminal record related to sexual freedom or integrity (issued by Ministry of Internal Affairs)

Application and Competition Deadlines:

  • Submission of applications: June 20–25, 2022, 10:00–17:00 at Faculty of Medicine Administration, Tbilisi, Kostava 77, 4th Building, 4th Floor
  • Competition: July 4–8, 2022
  • Preliminary results: no later than July 9, 2022, posted at the University and website: www.gtu.ge
  • Complaints: accepted until July 12, 2022
  • Academic Council approval of results: July 15, 2022
  • Final results publication: no later than July 16, 2022, on https://gtu.ge/
  • Employment contracts with winners within 10 days of final results publication

Participation Restrictions:

  • Individuals prohibited by law from holding academic positions are not eligible
  • Applicants aged 65 or older must obtain Academic Council approval to participate. Application must be submitted by June 10, 2022, and attendance at the Academic Council meeting is mandatory.

Competition Procedure:

The competition is conducted according to the Law of Georgia “On Higher Education,” the University Charter, and the University “Rules on Academic Personnel Recruitment.” The commission evaluates qualifications, competence, scientific, practical, methodological, and pedagogical activities, achievements, and lecture/interview performance.

Workload and Compensation:

  • Professor: 52 GEL/hour; max 270 hours per semester (avg. 18 hours/week)
  • Associate Professor: 52 GEL/hour; max 315 hours per semester (avg. 21 hours/week)
  • Assistant Professor: 52 GEL/hour; max 360 hours per semester (avg. 24 hours/week)

Note: Applications must be submitted for a single direction and position. Foreign-educated applicants must provide recognition of foreign education.
