Announcement of the Board of the International School of Design of the Georgian Technical University regarding the appointment of elections for the position of Head of the School’s Quality Assurance Service
According to Article 25 of the Law of Georgia on “Higher Education,” Article 22 of the Charter of the Georgian Technical University, approved by Order №133/n of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia dated September 9, 2013, and in accordance with Articles 2, paragraphs 10 and 11, 27, and 28 of the Regulation on the Conduct of Elections of the Governing Bodies of the Georgian Technical University and its Faculties, the Board of the International School of Design of the University, at its meeting on February 17, 2025 (meeting minutes №2), has made the following decision:
1. Elections for the position of Head of the Quality Assurance Service of the International School of Design are scheduled for March 12, 2025.
2. The Head of the Quality Assurance Service will be elected by the School Board for a term of 4 years.
3. The position of Head of the Quality Assurance Service may be held by a person who meets the following requirements:
a) Is a Professor or Associate Professor of the Georgian Technical University;
b) Has at least 5 years of work experience;
c) The candidate must have knowledge of:
- Quality assurance standards and guiding principles developed by the European Association for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area.
- Knowledge of ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accreditation standards and procedures;
- Proficiency in the state language (knowledge of a foreign language is desirable);
- Knowledge of quality management principles in the field of education;
- Knowledge of computer programs – MS Office;
- Communication skills and ability to work in a team;
Knowledge of the following legal acts:
- The Law of Georgia on “Higher Education”;
- The Law of Georgia on “Development of Education Quality”;
- The Law of Georgia on “Vocational Education”;
- Government Resolution №18 of January 30, 2015, on determining a different procedure and conditions from those established by Georgian legislation for awarding qualifications, issuing qualification documents, and recognition for students completing higher education programs conducted in cooperation between the Georgian Higher Educational Institution and San Diego State University;
- Order №65/n of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia dated May 4, 2011, on the approval of the Regulation on Accreditation of Educational Programs of Educational Institutions and Fees;
- Order №99/n of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia dated October 1, 2010, on the approval of the Regulation on Authorization of Educational Institutions and Fees;
- Order №3 of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia dated January 4, 2007, on the approval of the procedure for calculating credits for higher education programs;
- Order №69/n of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Georgia dated April 10, 2019, on the approval of the National Qualifications Framework and the Classifier of Learning Fields;
- Order №121/n of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia dated December 10, 2010, on the approval of the procedure for calculating credits for vocational education programs;
- Order №120/n of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Georgia dated December 28, 2020, on the approval of the credit system in the field of vocational education;

- Internal mechanisms of quality assurance at the Georgian Technical University;
- Instruction for managing the educational process at the Georgian Technical University;
- Rules for planning, developing, evaluating, and improving educational programs at the Georgian Technical University;
- Rules for reviewing and approving the syllabus of a course; procedure for assigning course (subject) codes;
- Regulation on Master’s programs at the Georgian Technical University; Regulation on Doctoral programs; Regulation on the University Dissertation Council;
- Other internal university documents.
4. Candidates must submit their application and accompanying documents from February 26 to March 5, 2025, to the election commission of the International School of Design – Tbilisi, Kostava St. 77, GTU Building №8, 2nd floor, Room №3. Applications are accepted from 10:00 to 17:00, excluding weekends and public holidays.
5. The application must include:
a) A copy of an identity document (ID card, passport);
b) A certificate of the academic position held at the Technical University;
c) Information regarding education, work experience, and academic degree;
d) An action plan;
e) Documents confirming the candidate’s compliance with the required criteria.
6. The Academic Council, by a qualified majority (2/3) vote and secret ballot, decides individually on the participation of persons aged 65 or older in the competition for administrative positions. Such candidates must additionally submit the Academic Council’s consent to the school election commission. For this purpose, an application must be submitted to the University’s Office of Administrative Affairs by February 22, 2025. Attendance of the candidate during the discussion of their matter in the Academic Council is mandatory; otherwise, the matter will not be considered.
7. The public presentation of candidates’ action plans to the School Board is scheduled for March 11, 2025.
