The Scientific Council of the Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology at the Georgian Technical University announces an open competition
The competition is announced for filling the following scientific position:
Head of the Hydrogeology Department – 1 staff position
Applications will be accepted from May 23, 2024, to May 27, 2024, between 10:00 and 17:00, at the following address: Tbilisi, Digomi Village, Sts’ori Ts’minda Nino Street No. 6, Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology. Contact person: Avthandil Songulashvili, Tel: 593 347 951.
The interview with the candidate(s) for the vacant Head of Department position and the voting will take place on May 29, 2024. The results of the vote will be announced by the Scientific Council immediately after the vote on May 29 and will be posted prominently at the institute and on the website https://hsgi.gtu.ge/.
Complaints regarding violations of the competition procedure will be accepted by the Scientific Council until May 31, 2024.

II. Competition Conditions
Main conditions of the competition:
The position of Head of a scientific structural unit of the institute can be held by a person who meets the requirements established for the Chief Researcher or Senior Researcher of this independent scientific-research unit. If a person does not hold the position of Chief Researcher or Senior Researcher, upon election to the position of Head of a scientific structural unit, they are also considered elected to an appropriate scientific position.
a) The position of Chief Researcher can be held by a person with a doctoral or equivalent academic degree and at least 6 years of research experience;
b) The position of Senior Researcher can be held by a person with a doctoral or equivalent academic degree;
c) The position of Researcher can be held by a person with a master’s or equivalent academic degree.
The Head of a structural unit is elected for a term of 5 years.
Applicants must personally (or through a representative) submit:
a) A properly completed and signed application and form (forms will be published on the institute’s website https://hsgi.gtu.ge/), along with supporting documentation: diploma, certificate, proof, award, letter, etc. (original and copy);
b) Proof of scientific/academic qualification (original and copy);
c) Documents confirming research experience (stages), certified by the appropriate organization/institution with a seal;
d) A list of scientific and teaching-methodological works, certified by the relevant institution/organization or the competent person of its structural unit with signature and seal (if applicable);
e) A written vision of the strategic development of the structural unit;
f) Identification document (original and copy);
g) Two photographs 3X4;
h) Certificate of no criminal record regarding sexual freedom and integrity violations, and information on any revoked rights.
Note: Persons who have already submitted these documents to the University’s Human Capital Management Department are exempt from providing them again.
III. Competition Procedure
The competition will be held in accordance with the Law of Georgia on Higher Education, the university regulations, and the “Procedure for Recruitment of Scientific Personnel of the Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology,” which the candidate will be familiarized with at the Scientific Council, university, and institute websites.
The Scientific Council will take into account: the candidate’s qualifications and competence relevant to the competition position, including scientific-research, practical, and other activities, achievements, qualifications, experience, and merits corresponding to the competition position; as well as (at the discretion of the Scientific Council) the results of interviews conducted with the candidate(s).
The results of the competition may be appealed in court in accordance with current legislation.
