Climatology and Agrometeorology Department:

Water Resources and Hydrological Forecasting Department:

  • Chief Scientific Officer – 1.0 (0.5 full-time position)
  • Scientific Officer – 2.0 (0.5 full-time position each)

Applications will be accepted from January 27, 2025, to January 29, 2025, from 10:00 to 17:00, at: Tbilisi, Davit Aghmashenebeli Avenue 150G, Hydro-Meteorological Institute, responsible person Naili Kapanadze, tel: 555 48 84 09, 032 295 10 47, 032 265 03 22.

The interview and voting for the vacant position of the Department Head by the Institute’s Scientific Council will take place on January 31, 2025. The voting results will be announced by the Scientific Council immediately after the vote on January 31, 2025, posted in a visible place at the institute, and published on the institute’s website.

The competition for the positions of Chief Scientific Officer and Scientific Officer by the Selection Committee will take place on February 3, 2025. Preliminary results of the competition will be published no later than February 3, 2025, in a visible place by the Selection Committee and on the institute’s website.

Applications/complaints regarding violations of the competition procedure will be accepted by the Scientific Council/Selection Committee until February 6, 2025. Additional information for applicants (application form, submission, interview time and place) will be published on the institute’s website.

II. Competition Conditions

Main conditions of the competition:

a) A person may be elected as the head of the institute’s scientific structural unit if they meet the requirements established for the institute’s Chief Scientific Officer or Senior Scientific Officer. If a person does not hold the position of Chief or Senior Scientific Officer, their election as the head of the institute’s scientific structural unit is also considered equivalent to being elected to an appropriate scientific position.

b) A person may occupy the position of Chief Scientific Officer if they have a doctoral or equivalent academic degree and at least 6 years of experience in scientific-research activity.

c) A person may occupy the position of Scientific Officer if they have a master’s or equivalent academic degree. A person is elected to the position of Scientific Officer (Chief Scientific Officer, Scientific Officer, Department Head) for a term of 5 years.

Applicants must personally (or through a representative) submit:

a) A properly completed and signed application and form (forms published on the institute’s website), along with supporting documents verifying the information: diploma, certificate, attestation, letter, certificate, etc. (originals and copies);

b) Document verifying scientific/academic degree (originals and copies);

c) Documents verifying scientific-research experience (originals certified by the respective organization/institution);

d) List of scientific and educational-methodical works, certified by the relevant institution/organization or a competent person of its structural unit with signature and stamp (if available);

e) CV – autobiography;

f) List of scientific works published in the last 5 years (only for applicants applying for the position of Department Head);

g) List of scientific grants (only for applicants applying for the position of Department Head);

h) List of patents, copyright certificates, licenses, usage acts, and other documents related to scientific activity, if available (only for applicants applying for the position of Department Head);

i) Identity document (original and copy);

k) 2 photographs 3X4;

l) Certificate of no criminal record for crimes against sexual freedom and inviolability and certificate regarding deprivation of rights.

Note: Persons who have already submitted these certificates to the university’s Human Capital Management Department are exempt from providing them again.

III. Competition Procedure

  • The competition is conducted in accordance with the Law of Georgia “On Higher Education,” the university’s charter, and the “Rules for Hiring Scientific Staff of the Hydro-Meteorological Institute,” which the applicant can review at the Scientific Council/Selection Committee, university, and institute websites;
  • The Scientific Council/Selection Committee will consider: the applicant’s qualifications and competence in relation to the position, including scientific-research, practical, and other activities, achievements, qualifications, experience, and merit relevant to the position; as well as (at the discretion of the Scientific Council/Selection Committee) the results of interviews with the applicant(s);
  • Appeals against the competition results may be submitted to the court in accordance with the current legislation.
