The Scientific Council of the Niko Mushelishvili Institute of Computational Mathematics of the Georgian Technical University announces an open competition for filling the following scientific positions:
- Department of Computational Methods: Head of Department – 1.0 staffing unit, Researcher – 0.5 staffing unit
- Department of Mathematical Modeling: Researcher – 1.0 staffing unit
- Department of Probabilistic-Statistical Methods: Senior Researcher – 0.5 staffing unit, Researcher – 0.5 staffing unit
Applications will be accepted from July 8 to July 10, 2025, from 11:00 to 15:00, at the address: Tbilisi, Gr. Feradze St. №4, Niko Mushelishvili Institute of Computational Mathematics, Room №201, contact person: Nino Bokuchava, Tel: 595 65 80 27.
The interview and voting with the candidate(s) for the vacant position of Head of Department, as determined by the Institute’s Scientific Council, will take place on July 14, 2025. The voting results will be announced by the Scientific Council immediately after the completion of voting on July 14 and will be posted in a visible place at the institute and published on the institute’s website.
The competition for the vacant positions of Senior Researcher and Researcher, as conducted by the competition commission, will be held on July 15, 2025. The preliminary results of the competition will be published no later than July 15, 2025, in a visible place by the competition commission and on the institute’s website.
Applications/complaints regarding violations of the competition procedure will be accepted by the Scientific Council/competition commission until July 18, 2025.

II. Competition Conditions
The main conditions of the competition:
A person may be elected as the head of a scientific structural unit of the institute if they meet the requirements established for the position of Senior Researcher or Leading Researcher at the institute. If the person does not hold the position of Leading Researcher or Senior Researcher at the institute, election to the position of head of the institute’s scientific structural unit is also considered as election to the appropriate scientific position.
The position of Leading Researcher may be held by a person who has a doctoral or equivalent academic degree, at least 6 years of scientific-research experience (including not only work at scientific positions in higher education or other profile institutions, but also published scientific works), and scientific publications from the last 5 years, including at least 1 in an impact-factor (Web of Science) journal, and at least 3 of the remaining publications in journals indexed in Scopus.
The position of Researcher may be held by a person who has a Master’s or equivalent academic degree. The term of office for the position of Researcher (Leading Researcher, Researcher, Head of Department) is 5 years.
Applicants must personally (or through a representative) submit:
a) A properly completed and signed application and questionnaire (forms will be published on the institute’s website), as well as documents verifying the information provided therein: diploma, certificate, proof, letter, statement, etc. (original and copy);
b) Document certifying scientific/academic degree (original and copy);
c) Document(s) certifying scientific-research experience (tenure), certified by the seal of the relevant organization/institution;
d) List of scientific and educational-methodical works, certified by the signature and seal of the relevant institution/organization or its competent person of the structural unit. The list must indicate “IF” for impact-factor (Web of Science) journals and “SJR” for journals indexed in Scopus;
e) Identity card (original and copy);
f) 2 photographs, 3X4;
g) Certificate of no criminal record for offenses against sexual freedom and inviolability and certificate regarding deprivation of rights;
Note: Persons who have already submitted the above certificates to the University’s Human Capital Management Department are exempt from submission.
III. Competition Procedure
- The competition will be conducted in accordance with the Law of Georgia “On Higher Education,” the University’s charter, and the “Rules for Hiring Scientific Staff of the Niko Mushelishvili Institute of Computational Mathematics,” which the candidate will review at the Scientific Council, competition commission, and on the University and institute websites;
- The Scientific Council/competition commission will consider: the candidate’s qualifications and competence in relation to the competition position, including the scientific-research, practical, and other activities, achievements, qualifications, experience, and merits relevant to the competition position; also, based on the decision of the Scientific Council/competition commission, results of the interview conducted with the candidate(s);
- The competition results may be appealed in court in accordance with applicable law.
