Scientific Council of the Water Management Institute named after Cotne Mirtchkhulava at Georgian Technical University announces an open competition

The competition is announced for filling the positions of heads of scientific structural units:

· Head of the Department of Natural Hazards and Environmental Protection (Chief Researcher) – 1 position;

· Head of the Department of Seas and Water Reservoirs (Chief Researcher) – 1 position;

· Head of the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (Chief Researcher) – 1 position.

Applications will be accepted from December 14 to December 18, 2023, from 10:00 to 17:00 at the address: Tbilisi, I. Chavchavadze Ave. N60B, 2nd floor, Room N232, Water Management Institute named after Cotne Mirtchkhulava. Contact person: Marine Mghebrishvili, Tel: +995 579 08 95 79.

Interviews and voting for the vacant positions of heads of scientific structural units by the Institute’s Scientific Council will take place on December 19, 2023. The results of the vote will be announced by the Scientific Council immediately after the voting on December 19 and will be displayed prominently at the Institute and published on the Institute’s website: http://www.wmi.ge/index.htm

Complaints or appeals regarding violations of the competition procedure will be accepted by the Scientific Council until December 22, 2023.

II. Competition Conditions

Main conditions of the competition:

The position of head of a scientific structural unit of the Institute can be held by a person who meets the requirements established for Chief Researcher or Senior Researcher of this independent scientific-research unit. If a person does not currently hold the position of Chief or Senior Researcher, upon being elected as head of the scientific structural unit, they are also considered to have been elected to the corresponding scientific position.

a) The position of Chief Researcher can be held by a person who has a doctoral or equivalent academic degree and at least 6 years of research experience;

b) The position of Senior Researcher can be held by a person who has a doctoral or equivalent academic degree;

The head of a scientific structural unit is elected for a term of 5 years.

Applicants must personally (or through a representative) submit:

a) Properly completed and signed application form (forms will be published on the Institute’s website: http://www.wmi.ge/index.htm), along with supporting documents (diploma, certificate, letter, reference, etc.) – original and copy;

b) Document confirming scientific/academic degree (original and copy);

c) Documents confirming scientific-research experience (stages), certified by the respective organization/institution with a stamp;

d) List of scientific and teaching-methodological works, certified by the competent person of the respective institution/organization or its structural unit (if available);

e) Identity document (original and copy);

f) Two photographs 3×4 cm;

g) Certificate of no criminal record for offenses against sexual freedom and integrity, and certificate of rights revocation.

Note: persons who have already submitted these certificates to the University Human Capital Management Department are exempt from submission.

III. Competition Procedure

The competition will be conducted in accordance with the Law of Georgia “On Higher Education,” the University Charter, and the “Rules for Hiring Scientific Personnel of the Water Management Institute named after Cotne Mirtchkhulava,” which the applicant will be familiarized with at the Scientific Council, University, and Institute websites.

The Scientific Council will take into account: the applicant’s qualifications and competence for the position, including scientific-research, practical, and other activities, achievements, qualifications, experience, and merits; also, the results of the interview(s) conducted with the applicant(s) (as determined by the Council).

The results of the competition may be appealed in court according to the applicable legislation.
