The Scientific Council of the I. Jordania Georgian Center for the Study of Productive Forces and Natural Resources at Georgian Technical University announces an open competition for the following scientific position:

Position: Head of the Department of Land, Water, and Forest Resources – (1 staff unit).

The interview and voting for the department head position by the Center’s Scientific Council will take place on October 18, 2024.

The results of the vote will be announced immediately by the Scientific Council on October 18, 2024, posted in a visible location at the Center, and published on the Center’s website: https://gnrc.gtu.ge/

Complaints regarding violations of the competition procedure will be accepted by the Scientific Council until October 23, 2024.

II. Competition Conditions

Key Requirements:

The position of Head of a Scientific Structural Unit may be held by a person who meets the requirements for either Chief Scientific Officer or Senior Scientific Officer of this independent scientific-research unit.

If a person does not currently hold the position of Chief or Senior Scientific Officer, they may still be considered elected to an appropriate scientific position when selected as the head of the unit.

Specific requirements by position:
a) Chief Scientific Officer: Doctoral degree (or equivalent) with at least 6 years of research experience.
b) Senior Scientific Officer: Doctoral degree (or equivalent).
c) Scientific Officer: Master’s degree (or equivalent) and at least 6 years of research experience in the relevant natural resources field, including at least 3 years of experience as a department, group, or project leader. During the last 10 years, the applicant must have at least 10 scientific publications (monographs, articles) in leading local and international journals or international conference proceedings.

The head of the scientific structural unit is elected for a term of 5 years.

Applicants must personally (or via a representative) submit:

  • Properly completed and signed **application and questionnaire** (forms available on the Center’s website), including supporting documentation (diploma, certificate, attestation, license, reference, etc., originals and copies).
  • **Proof of scientific/academic degree** (original and copy).
  • **Documentation certifying research experience (tenure)**, certified by the relevant organization/institution with an official stamp.
  • **List of scientific and educational-methodological publications**, certified by the relevant institution/organization or a competent authority within its structure (if applicable).
  • **Curriculum Vitae (CV)**.
  • **Strategic development plan for the department** and vision for field development.
  • **Identity document** (original and photocopy).
  • Two **photographs** (3×4 cm).
  • **Certificate of no criminal record** for offenses against sexual freedom and inviolability, and certificate regarding deprivation of rights.

Note: Applicants who have already submitted these certificates to the University’s Human Capital Management Department are exempted from resubmission.

III. Competition Procedure

The competition will be conducted in accordance with the Law of Georgia “On Higher Education”, the University Statute, and the Rules for Recruitment of Scientific Personnel at the I. Jordania Georgian Center, which applicants can review at the Scientific Council office, and on the University and Center websites.

The Scientific Council will evaluate applicants based on qualifications and competence relevant to the position, including research, practical, and other activities, achievements, qualifications, experience, and merits, as well as interview results (at the Council’s discretion).

Results of the competition may be appealed in court in accordance with current legislation.
