Announcement on the Appointment of Elections for the University Administration Head (Chancellor) Position
Based on Articles 21 and 23 of the Law of Georgia on Higher Education, Articles 8 and 15 of the University Statute approved by the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia’s Order #133/n of September 9, 2013, and Articles 18 and 19 of the “Regulations on the Elections of Management Bodies of Georgian Technical University and Its Faculties,” and in accordance with Resolution №01-05-04/176 of the University Academic Council dated November 28, 2023:
On December 25, 2023, elections shall be held in the Academic Council of SSIP – Georgian Technical University for the position of the University Administration Head (Chancellor).
Registration of candidates for the elections shall take place from December 11, 2023, to December 18, 2023.
Candidates’ action plans shall be presented to the Academic Council on December 22, 2023.
The candidate selected by a majority of the Academic Council shall be submitted to the University Representative Council (Senate) for approval no later than 4 days after the election.
The University Administration Head (Chancellor) shall be elected for a term of four years.
The same person may be elected to the University Administration Head (Chancellor) position consecutively only twice.
Eligibility criteria for candidates for the University Administration Head (Chancellor) position:
a) Must hold a master’s degree or equivalent academic qualification;
b) Must have at least 5 years of experience in a leadership position;
c) Must have at least 5 years of experience in a higher education institution;
d) Must be under 65 years of age.
For registration, candidates must submit:
a) An application addressed to the Academic Council;
b) Copy of a document confirming higher education (diploma);
c) Documentation confirming work experience;
d) Copy of identity document;
e) Autobiography (CV);
f) Action plan;
g) 2 photographs, size 3×4 cm;
h) Certificate of no criminal record for crimes against sexual freedom and integrity, and certificate regarding deprivation of rights.
Applications shall be submitted to the Secretariat of the University Election Commission at: Tbilisi, 77 Kostava Street, Administrative Building, 2nd Floor, Room 233. Applications are accepted from 10:00 to 17:00, excluding weekends and holidays.
According to the University Statute, the Academic Council decides on the eligibility of a person aged 65 or older for an administrative position by a qualified majority (2/3) through a secret ballot, individually. A person of this age must submit the Academic Council’s consent to the University Election Commission. Such a person must apply by December 7, 2023, via the University Records Department (Address: 77 Kostava Street, Administrative Building, 2nd Floor). The person’s attendance at the Academic Council is mandatory during the discussion of their case; otherwise, the matter will not be considered.
A person is exempt from submitting the documents listed under paragraph 8(h) if such documents have already been submitted to the University’s Human Capital Management Department.
