Georgian Technical University (hereinafter referred to as the University) announces an open competition for the academic year 2025-2026 for a period of 4 (four) years to fill academic positions (Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, and Assistant).
I. Deadlines for submitting applications and conducting the competition
1. Relevant information for applicants (including the number of available positions by subject groups of educational programs at all levels of study, etc.) will be published on the University’s website and in the newspaper “Sakartvelos Respublika”.
2. Applications from participants in the academic competition will be accepted from July 9 to July 15, 2025, from 10:00 to 17:00, at the office of the relevant competition commission.
3. The competition will be held from July 16 to July 22, 2025.
4. The results of the competition will be published no later than July 23, 2025, by the competition commission in a visible place in the relevant academic buildings of the University and on the University website.
5. Complaints regarding violations of the competition procedure will be accepted by the competition commission until July 25, 2025.
6. The final results of the competition approved by the Academic Council will be published on the University website no later than July 30, 2025.
7. Affiliation with the winning candidates and the signing of employment contracts will take place after the publication of the final results, before the start of the 2025-2026 academic year.
II. Competition conditions
1. Conditions of the competition:
a) A person with a doctoral or equivalent academic degree with at least 6 years of scientific-pedagogical experience may be elected as a Professor;
b) A person with a doctoral or equivalent academic degree with at least 3 years of scientific-pedagogical experience may be elected as an Associate Professor;
c) A person with a doctoral or equivalent academic degree may be elected as an Assistant Professor;
d) A doctoral student may be elected as an Assistant.
e) A person with relevant professional experience (at least 6 (six) years), whose qualification can be evidenced by professional experience, special training, and/or publications, and who has the competencies necessary to achieve the learning outcomes specified by the program, may also be elected to an academic position.
III. Information about academic staff workload and remuneration
1. The academic staff’s obligations consist of four components:
a) Teaching-pedagogical (lectures, practical, seminar, laboratory, coursework, course project);
b) Advisory obligations and ensuring/participating in the practice provided for by the educational program;
c) Scientific-research activities;
d) Participation in various events planned by the faculty.
2. Remuneration is determined according to the relevant staffing schedule established by the University.
Professor’s duties
(“A” category)
1. Teaching-pedagogical load (lecture, practical, seminar, laboratory, coursework, course project) – 15 hours per week, 390 hours per year;
2. Advisory obligations and organization of practice provided by the educational program;
3. Must continuously ensure permanent monitoring and analysis of courses included in their subject group. Based on the obtained results, ensures relevant updates and improvements of teaching resources so that they correspond to the modern teaching methods and learning outcomes defined by the educational program. A report must be submitted once a year to the Faculty Council and Academic Council.
4. Must conduct peer review of scientific papers, articles, and other works according to established procedures.
5. Scientific-research activity:
5.1. Publish at least three articles in local peer-reviewed scientific journals/collections every two years (at least one co-authored with student(s));
5.2. Publish at least one scientific article in an international high-ranking peer-reviewed journal/collection every two years (co-authored with student(s));
5.3. Participate as a speaker in at least one international scientific forum (conference, symposium, workshop, scientific seminar, congress) every two years;
5.4. Publish at least two textbooks (including electronic), monographs, or collections within four years;
5.5. Participate in an international scientific-research project within four years;
5.6. Participate in at least two grant projects within four years (preparing or participating in winning projects) as a leader/manager/coordinator or core personnel (grant projects also include scientific-infrastructural grants or others) or participate in at least two grant competitions of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation and achieve at least 80% of the maximum evaluation for the submitted grant project under their leadership/management or as core personnel.
Professor’s duties also include:
a) Supervising master’s and doctoral students (usually no more than 3 masters and/or 3 doctoral students simultaneously);
b) Ensuring refinement and development of the corresponding educational program;
c) Continuous development of the courses within the educational program;
d) Preparing/providing the necessary teaching literature for implementing the courses;
e) Identifying relevant internationally accredited programs within the program and developing specific proposals for obtaining international accreditation for the program;
f) Planning/participating in various activities with students to achieve the educational objectives defined by existing legislation and subordinate normative acts in higher education, contributing to the acquisition/activation of students’ academic and cultural knowledge;
g) Promoting the participation of students (including foreign students) in the University’s educational, cultural, sports, and social activities, and planning various work/educational activities together with foreign students on a permanent basis.
