Announcement of the Faculty Council of the University of Civil Engineering Regarding the Appointment of Elections for the Dean’s Position

Based on:

Article 29 of the Law of Georgia “On Higher Education”;

Article 21 of the Statute of the Georgian Technical University, approved by Order №133/n of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia on September 9, 2013;

Article 2, paragraph 9, and Articles 24, 25, and 26 of the Regulations “On the Conduct of Elections of the Management Bodies of Georgian Technical University and Its Faculties”;

and by the decision of the Faculty Council of the Civil Engineering Faculty at its session on December 3, 2024 (Minutes №7), it has been decided:

1. Election Date

The elections for the position of Dean of the Civil Engineering Faculty are scheduled for February 3, 2025.

2. Term of Office

The Dean is elected by the Faculty Council for a four-year term. The same person may serve as Dean consecutively no more than twice.

3. Eligibility

The Dean’s position may be held by a person who is a Professor or Associate Professor at the Faculty.

4. Application Submission

Candidates must submit their applications and supporting documents to the Faculty Election Commission from January 13 to January 27, 2025, at:
Address: 68 Kostava St., 4th Floor, Room №421, Tbilisi
Office hours: 10:00–17:00, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.

5. Required Documents

Applications must include:
a) Copy of identity document (ID card or passport)
b) Certificate of the applicant’s current academic position at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Georgian Technical University
c) Action plan

6. Presentation of Action Plan

Candidates will publicly present their action plans to the Faculty Council on January 29, 2025.

7. Special Rules for Senior Candidates

The Academic Council will individually decide, by qualified majority (2/3) and secret ballot, on the eligibility of candidates aged 65 and older for administrative positions. Candidates in this age group must additionally submit the Academic Council’s consent to the Faculty Election Commission. Interested candidates must submit this request by December 28, 2024, through the University Office of Records (Address: 77 Kostava St., Administrative Building, 2nd Floor).

Note: Attendance at the Academic Council meeting is mandatory for consideration; otherwise, the matter will not be discussed.

8. Election Procedure

The elections will be conducted in accordance with the University-wide Regulations on the Conduct of Elections of the Management Bodies of Georgian Technical University and Its Faculties.
