Announcement of the Faculty Council of the Mining and Geology Faculty of the University on the Appointment of Elections for the Position of Faculty Dean
Based on Article 29 of the Law of Georgia “On Higher Education”, Article 21 of the Statute of the University approved by Order №133/ნ of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia dated September 9, 2013, titled “On the Approval of the Statute of the Legal Entity of Public Law – Georgian Technical University”, as well as Article 2, Paragraph 9, and Articles 24, 25, and 26 of the Regulation “On the Conduct of Elections of the Governing Bodies (Management Entities) of Georgian Technical University and its Faculties”, and pursuant to the decision adopted at the meeting of the Faculty Council of the Mining and Geology Faculty held on December 3, 2024 (Minutes №3):

Elections for the position of Dean of the Mining and Geology Faculty shall be scheduled for February 3, 2025.

The Dean of the Faculty shall be elected by the Faculty Council for a term of 4 years. The same person may be elected to the position of Dean no more than twice consecutively.

The position of Faculty Dean may be held by a person who meets the following requirement:

is a Professor or Associate Professor of the Faculty.

Candidates must submit their application and attached documents to the Faculty Election Commission from January 13 to January 27, 2025 (inclusive) at the following address: Tbilisi, 77 Kostava Street, 3rd Floor, Room №306. Applications will be accepted from 10:00 to 17:00, except weekends and public holidays.

The application must be accompanied by: a) a copy of an identity document (ID card or passport); b) a certificate confirming the academic position held at the Mining and Geology Faculty of the Technical University; c) an action plan.

The public presentation of candidates’ action programs before the Faculty Council of the Mining and Geology Faculty shall be scheduled for January 30, 2025.

The Academic Council, by a qualified majority vote (2/3) and secret ballot, shall individually decide on the participation in the competition for holding an administrative position by a person aged 65 or older. A person of this age must additionally submit the consent of the Academic Council to the Faculty Election Commission. For this purpose, the interested person must submit an application to the Academic Council no later than December 28, 2024, through the University Department of Administration (Address: 77 Kostava St., Administrative Building, 2nd Floor).
The presence of the person at the Academic Council meeting during the discussion of their case is mandatory; otherwise, the matter will not be considered.

The elections will be conducted in accordance with the University Regulation “On the Conduct of Elections of the Governing Bodies (Management Entities) of Georgian Technical University and its Faculties.”
