Vechta University – International Scientific Conference “Dimensions of Justice in Sustainable Transformations in Rural Areas”


On July 8–9, 2026, Vechta University (University of Vechta) (Vechta, Germany) will host the international scientific conference – “Justice Dimensions of Sustainability Transformations in Rural Areas.”

The conference focuses on the dimensions of justice in sustainability transformations, including social, spatial, economic, and gender aspects, with a special emphasis on rural areas.

Those interested in participating can submit abstracts (approximately 300 words) by April 1, 2026. Abstracts and presentations must be in English. Submissions can be sent via email to: [judith-maria.maruschke@uni-vechta.de](mailto:judith-maria.maruschke@uni-vechta.de).

Key conference topics include:

* Transformation of the energy sector, energy accessibility, and urban–regional relations;
* Spatial justice and social conditions;
* Justice aspects of socio-technical transitions;
* Environmental policy and North–South global relations;
* Gender justice in transformation processes;
* Risks and risk perception in transformation processes, and other related topics.

Participation in the conference is free.

Registration will be open from April 15 to May 15, 2026.
