The Scientific Council of V. Chavchanidze Institute of Cybernetics Announces a Competition
The Scientific Council of the Vladimir Chavchanidze Institute of Cybernetics of Georgian Technical University announces an open competition for the positions of Head of Scientific Structural Unit and Scientific Staff:
- Head of the Department of Applied Systems for Pattern Recognition (1 staff unit);
- Head of the Laboratory of Thermo- and Photochromic Structures (1 staff unit);
- Laboratory of Thermo- and Photochromic Structures – Chief Research Scientist (1 staff unit);
Applications will be accepted from April 30 to May 5, 2026, between 10:00 and 17:00, at the following address: Tbilisi, 1st Lane of Zurab Anjaparidze №6 (formerly Sandro Euli Street), Vladimir Chavchanidze Institute of Cybernetics, 1st floor, Room №130. Interviews and voting for candidates applying for the vacant position of Head of Scientific Structural Unit will be conducted by the Scientific Council of the Institute on May 7, 2026. The voting results will be announced by the Scientific Council immediately upon completion of the vote on May 7 and will be posted in a prominent location at the Institute and published on the Institute’s website.
The competition for the vacant position of Chief Research Scientist will be held by the Competition Commission on May 8, 2026. The preliminary results of the competition will be published no later than May 8, 2026, by the Competition Commission in a prominent location and on the Institute’s website.
Appeals/complaints regarding violations of competition procedures will be accepted by the Scientific Council/Competition Commission until May 13, 2026.
Additional information for those wishing to participate in the competition (candidate application form and questionnaire, time and venue of the competition) will be published on the Institute’s website.
II. Competition Requirements
Main conditions of the competition:
a) The position of Head of a Scientific Structural Unit of the Institute (Head of Laboratory) may be held by a person who meets the requirements established for the position of Chief Research Scientist or Senior Research Scientist of an independent scientific-research unit. If the person does not hold the position of Chief Research Scientist or Senior Research Scientist, upon election to the position of Head of a Scientific Structural Unit of the Institute, they shall also be deemed elected to the corresponding scientific position;
b) The position of Chief Research Scientist may be held by a person who holds a doctoral degree or an equivalent academic degree and has at least 6 years of experience in scientific-research activities;
All persons elected to the listed positions of Head of Structural Unit/Scientific Staff shall serve a term of 5 years.
Those wishing to participate in the competition must submit in person (or through a representative):
a) A duly completed and signed application and questionnaire (forms will be published on the Institute’s website), along with supporting documentation confirming the information provided therein: diploma, certificate, license, charter, reference, etc. (originals and copies);
b) Document confirming scientific/academic degree (original and copy);
c) Document(s) confirming scientific-research experience (work record), certified with the seal of the relevant organization/institution;
d) A list of scientific and educational-methodological works, certified by the signature and seal of a competent person of the relevant institution/organization or its structural unit (if applicable);
e) Identity document (original and photocopy);
f) 2 photographs 3×4;
g) Certificate regarding criminal conviction for offenses against sexual freedom and inviolability, and a certificate regarding deprivation of rights.
Note: A person who has already submitted the aforementioned certificates to the University’s Human Resources Management and Records Service is exempt from submitting them again.
III. Competition Procedure
- The competition will be conducted in accordance with the Georgian Law on Higher Education, the University Charter, and the “Rules for Recruitment of Scientific Personnel of the Vladimir Chavchanidze Institute of Cybernetics,” with which candidates may familiarize themselves at the Scientific Council/Competition Commission and on the websites of the University and the Institute.
- The Scientific Council/Competition Commission will take into account: the correspondence of the candidate’s qualifications and competencies to the competitive position, including scientific-research, practical, and other activities, achievements, qualifications, experience, and merits relevant to the profile of the position; as well as (at the discretion of the Scientific Council/Competition Commission) the results of interviews conducted with the candidate(s).
- Competition results may be appealed in court in accordance with applicable legislation.
