The Scientific Council of some independent scientific research units of the Georgian Technical University announces an open competition for the position of Director

The Scientific Council of the following independent scientific research units of the Georgian Technical University is holding an open competition for the position of Director of the Institute/Center for a period of 5 years.

I. Deadlines for receiving applications and conducting competitions

1. Applications from candidates will be accepted from 1000 to 1700 on July 2-3, 2018 at the addresses indicated above.

2. The hearing of the candidates’ action programs by the Scientific Council is scheduled for July 5, 2018. Elections to the Scientific Council for the position of Director of the Institute/Center will be held on July 6, 2018, and the results of the elections will be announced by the Scientific Council on the same day. The results will be posted in a prominent place in the building of the Institute/Center and on the website of the University/Institute. Complaints/complaints regarding violations of the competition rules will be accepted by the Scientific Council until July 10 of the current year.

3. The Scientific Council of the Institute/Center shall submit the selected candidacy for the Director to the Academic Council of the Georgian Technical University for approval.

II. Competition conditions

1. Basic conditions of the competition:

A person who meets the requirements set for the chief scientific officer of this institute/center (doctoral or equivalent academic degree, at least 6 years of experience in scientific research activities) and whose age does not exceed 65 years may be elected as the director of an institute/center, unless otherwise expressly provided for by the university charter.

2. Additional qualification requirements for the competition will be posted on the university/institute/center website.

3. The person wishing to participate in the competition must personally (or through a representative) submit:

a) A duly completed and signed application and questionnaire (see the forms on the institute/center’s website), as well as documentation confirming the information presented in them: diploma, certificate, diploma, deed, reference, etc. (original and copy);

b) Document confirming scientific/academic degree (original and copy);

c) Document(s) confirming scientific-research experience (experience), certified by the seal of the relevant organization/institution;

d) List of scientific papers certified by the signature and seal of a competent person of the relevant organization;

e) Identity card (original and photocopy);

f) 2 photographs 3×4;

g) Action program.

4. Competition Rules

1. The competition will be held in accordance with the Law of Georgia on Higher Education, the University Charter and the Institute’s Regulations, which the contestant will be able to familiarize themselves with on the websites of the University and the Institute.

2. The Scientific Council will take into account: the relevance of the candidate’s qualifications and competence to the competitive position; scientific-research, practical and other activities, achievements, qualifications, experience and merit; the results of the interview conducted with the candidate/candidates (by decision of the Scientific Council).

3. The results of the competition may be appealed in court in accordance with applicable legislation.
