Student Inventors and Researchers Competition “Leonardo da Vinci”
The Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation has announced the Leonardo da Vinci Competition for Student Inventors and Researchers. The goal of the competition is to support ongoing reforms in general education institutions; stimulate and improve the educational process, arouse interest in learning; arouse students’ interest in innovations and technology; develop creative thinking and practical skills.
Any person who is a student in grades VII-XII of a Georgian general education institution (state and private schools) can participate in the competition.
Only students in grades 9-12 who are winners of the 2016 Leonardo da Vinci Student Inventors Competition are eligible to participate in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF).
The competition will be held in two stages:
In the first stage of the competition, the application form and research plan/initial idea (uploaded as a PDF file) (with scanned signatures) must be sent by the competition participant to the following e-mail address: leo@rustaveli.org.ge.
The competition committee will review the submitted application form and research plan/initial idea according to the first stage evaluation criteria and determine the projects that will move on to the second stage of the competition.
In the second stage of the competition, the participant must send an application for participation in the competition, electronic files (photos) containing a description of the project and an illustrative mock-up/model and/or drawing. (Uploading of scanned versions of drawings is allowed); professional biographies of the supervisor and the relevant scientist or supervisor (if any) (uploaded in PDF format) to the e-mail address: leo@rustaveli.org.ge.
Contest administration schedule:
14/04/2016 16:00 Deadline for submitting the application form and research plan/initial idea for the first stage of the competition;
18/04/2016 16:00 – Deadline for submitting the application form to the Chancellery;
6/05/2016 – Announcement of the results of the first stage;
19/09/2016 16:00 – Deadline for submitting electronic files containing the application for participation in the competition, project description, professional biographies of the supervisor and relevant scientist or supervisor (if any), and illustrative mockup/model/drawing in the second stage of the competition;
22/09/2016 16:00 Deadline for registration of application for participation in the competition and illustrative drawing/model/mockup at the regional resource center or the foundation’s office;
10.2016-Selection of finalists by the competition committee;
11.2016-Declaration of the winner by the competition committee.
