The Georgian Technical University announces an open competition for academic positions

II. Competition Conditions and Required Documents

Main competition conditions:

A person with a doctoral degree and at least 6 years of scientific-pedagogical experience can be elected as a Professor.

An applicant must personally (or through a representative) submit:

a) A properly filled and signed application and questionnaire (forms are available on the GTU website), as well as documents verifying the information provided: diploma, certificate, attestation, letter, reference, etc. (originals and copies);
b) A document confirming the scientific/academic degree (original and copy);
c) Documents confirming scientific-pedagogical experience, certified by the relevant organization’s seal;
d) A list of scientific and methodological works, certified by a competent person of the institution/organization (verification is also possible by the signature of the head of the relevant academic department of the university and the department/faculty seal);
e) Identity card (original and copy);
f) 2 photographs, 3×4 cm.

III. Participant Restrictions

Persons restricted from holding academic positions by current legislation are not allowed to participate in the competition.

The Academic Council, by a qualified majority (2/3), and secret ballot, individually decides on participation in the competition for persons aged 65 and above. Such persons must additionally submit the Academic Council’s consent to the Competition Committee. For this purpose, the application must be submitted to the University Chancellery no later than November 11, 2019. Attendance at the Academic Council session is mandatory; otherwise, the issue will not be considered.

A person working at another higher education institution and winning the competition at GTU must sign an affiliation agreement with GTU before signing the employment contract.

IV. Competition Procedure

The competition will be held according to the Law of Georgia “On Higher Education”, the university regulations, and the “Regulation on the Recruitment of Academic Staff,” which competitors can review at the Competition Committee and the university website.

The Competition Committee will consider: the applicant’s qualifications and competence for the position, including research, practical, teaching-methodological, and pedagogical activities relevant to the position; other activities, achievements, qualifications, experience, and merits; and, at the committee’s discretion, the results of a lecture given by the applicant or an interview conducted with the applicant(s).

Results of the competition may be appealed in court according to current legislation.
