The Scientific Council of the I. Jordania Center for the Study of Georgia’s Productive Forces and Natural Resources, Georgian Technical University, announces an open competition
The competition is announced for the following scientific positions:
- Head of the Department of Mineral and Energy Resources – Chief Researcher (1 full-time equivalent);
- Head of the Department of Human and Natural-Recreational Resources and Ecology – Chief Researcher (1 full-time equivalent);
- Chief Researcher of the Department of Land, Water, and Forest Resources (1 full-time equivalent);

Interviews and voting for the candidates for the position of Head of the Scientific Structural Unit will be held on November 20, 2023. The results will be announced immediately after the vote by the Scientific Council and posted at a prominent location in the Center and on the Center’s website: https://gtu.ge/cspfnr/
The competition for the Chief Researcher position will be held on November 21, 2023. Preliminary results will be published no later than November 21, 2023, at a prominent location and on the Center’s website: https://gtu.ge/cspfnr/
Complaints regarding violations of the competition procedure will be accepted by the Scientific Council/Competition Commission until November 24, 2023.

II. Competition Conditions
Main conditions of the competition:
a) The position of Head of a Scientific Structural Unit may be held by a person who meets the requirements established for a Chief or Senior Researcher of this independent scientific-research unit. If the person does not hold a Chief or Senior Researcher position, being elected as the Head of the Scientific Structural Unit will also be considered as holding a relevant scientific position. Additionally, the candidate must have at least 6 years of research experience in the relevant natural resources field, including at least 3 years as a Head of a Department, Group, or Project. During the last 10 years, the candidate must have published at least 10 scientific works (monographs, articles) in leading local and international journals and/or international scientific conference proceedings.
b) The Chief Researcher position can be held by a person with a doctoral or equivalent academic degree and at least 6 years of scientific-research experience;
c) The Senior Researcher position can be held by a person with a doctoral or equivalent academic degree;
The term of office for all research positions (Head of Scientific Structural Unit, Chief Researcher, Senior Researcher) is 5 years.
Applicants must personally (or through a representative) submit:
a) Properly completed and signed application and questionnaire (forms published on the Center’s website: https://gtu.ge/cspfnr/) along with supporting documents: diploma, certificate, license, reference, etc. (original and copy);
b) Document confirming academic/scientific degree (original and copy);
c) CV – autobiography;
d) Documents confirming scientific-research experience, certified by the respective organization/institution with a stamp;
e) List of scientific and teaching-methodological works, certified by the competent person of the respective organization/institution (if available);
f) Strategic development plan of the department (for candidates applying for the Head of Scientific Structural Unit position);
g) Vision for the development of the field (for candidates applying for the Chief Researcher position);
h) Identity document (original and copy);
i) Two photographs 3×4 cm;
j) Certificate of no criminal record for offenses against sexual freedom and integrity, and certificate of rights revocation.
Note: persons who have already submitted these certificates to the University Human Capital Management Department are exempt from submission.
III. Competition Procedure
The competition will be conducted in accordance with the Law of Georgia “On Higher Education,” the University Charter, and the “Rules for Hiring Scientific Personnel at the I. Jordania Center for the Study of Georgia’s Productive Forces and Natural Resources,” which the applicant will be familiarized with at the Scientific Council, Competition Commission, University, and Center websites.
The Scientific Council/Competition Commission will consider the applicant’s qualifications and competence for the position, including research, practical, and other relevant activities, achievements, qualifications, experience, and merits; also, the results of interviews conducted with the applicant(s) (as determined by the Council/Commission).
The results of the competition may be appealed in court according to applicable legislation.
