The Scientific Council of the Institute of Structures, Special Systems and Engineering Support of Georgian Technical University announces an open competition
The competition is announced for filling the following scientific positions:
- Head of the Department of Space Transformable Structures – 1 staff position
· Head of the Department of Ground Transformable Structures – 1 staff position
· Head of the Department of Engineering Support – 1 staff position
Applications will be accepted from January 23, 2024, to January 25, 2024, between 10:00 and 17:00, at the following address: Tbilisi, Kostava Street N68b, GTU First Academic Building, Institute of Structures, Special Systems and Engineering Support, Room N621. Interviews with the candidates applying for the vacant position of department head and the voting by the Institute’s Scientific Council will be held on January 29, 2024. The results of the vote will be announced immediately after the voting on January 29 by the Scientific Council and will be posted in a visible place at the Institute and published on the website: www.gtu.ge
Complaints regarding violations of the competition procedure will be accepted by the Scientific Council until February 1, 2024.

II. Competition Conditions
Main conditions of the competition:
The position of Head of Department may be held by a person who meets the requirements established for the position of Chief Researcher. The position of Chief Researcher may be held by a person who has a doctoral or equivalent academic degree and at least 6 years of experience in scientific research activities.
In addition, within the last 5 years the candidate must have published or have accepted for publication scientific papers, including at least one in an impact-factor (Web of Science) journal.
A person shall be elected to the position of Head of Department for a term of 5 years.
Applicants wishing to participate in the competition must personally (or through a representative) submit:
a) A properly completed and signed application and questionnaire (forms will be published on the university website: www.gtu.ge), together with documentation confirming the information presented therein: diploma, certificate, testimonial, award, reference, etc. (original and copy);
b) A document confirming the scientific/academic degree (original and copy);
c) Document(s) confirming scientific research experience (length of service), certified by the relevant organization/institution with a seal;
d) A list of scientific publications published within the last 5 years;
e) A list of scientific grants;
f) CV – autobiography;
g) Patents, author certificates, licenses, and other supporting documentation related to scientific activity (if available);
h) Identification document (original and photocopy);
i) Two photographs 3×4;
j) Certificate of no criminal record for crimes against sexual freedom and integrity and a certificate regarding deprivation of rights.
Note: A person who has already submitted these certificates to the University’s Human Capital Management Department is exempt from submitting them again.
III. Competition Procedure
The competition will be conducted in accordance with the Law of Georgia on Higher Education, the university statutes, and the “Procedure for Recruitment of Scientific Personnel of the Institute of Structures, Special Systems and Engineering Support,” which candidates may review at the Scientific Council and on the university website.
The Scientific Council will take into account the candidate’s qualifications and competence relevant to the competition position, including scientific research, practical and other activities, achievements, qualifications, experience and merits corresponding to the profile of the competition position; as well as (by decision of the Council) the results of interviews conducted with the candidate(s).
The results of the competition may be appealed in court in accordance with the current legislation.
