The competition is announced for the following scientific positions:

· Department of Mathematical Modeling:
Department Head – 0.5 full-time equivalent

· Department of Probabilistic and Statistical Methods:
Senior Researcher – 1.0 full-time equivalent

· Academician Shalva Mikeladze Computational Center:
Principal Researcher – 1.0 full-time equivalent

Applications will be accepted from November 20 to November 22, 2023, from 11:00 to 15:00 at the address: Tbilisi, Gr. Feradze St. N4, Niko Mushelishvili Institute of Computational Mathematics, Room N201. Contact person: Nino Bokuchava, Tel: +995 595 65 80 27.

The Scientific Council of the Institute will hold interviews and voting with candidates for the vacant Department Head position on November 24, 2023. The results of the voting will be announced immediately on November 24, displayed prominently at the Institute, and published on the Institute website: https://micm.edu.ge/.

The competition for the vacant positions of Senior and Principal Researcher will be held by the Competition Commission on November 27, 2023. Preliminary results will be published no later than November 27, 2023, at a prominent place by the Competition Commission and on the Institute website: https://micm.edu.ge/.

Complaints regarding violations of the competition procedure will be accepted by the Scientific Council/Competition Commission until November 30, 2023.

II. Competition Conditions

Main conditions of the competition:

1) The head of a scientific structural unit of the Institute may be elected from a person who meets the requirements established for the Institute’s Senior Researcher or Principal Researcher. If the person does not currently hold the position of Senior or Principal Researcher, election to the position of head of the Institute’s scientific unit is considered equivalent to election to the corresponding scientific position.

2) The position of Senior Researcher can be held by a person with a doctoral or equivalent academic degree and at least 6 years of scientific-research experience (including not only work at a scientific, higher education, or other specialized institution but also published scientific publications). Within the last 5 years, the candidate must have published or accepted for publication at least one scientific article in an impact-factor (Web of Science) journal, and at least three publications in Scopus-indexed journals.

3) The position of Principal Researcher can be held by a person with a doctoral or equivalent academic degree, with at least three publications in Scopus-indexed journals over the last 5 years.

The term of office for Researcher positions (Senior Researcher, Principal Researcher, Department Head) is 5 years.

Applicants must personally (or through a representative) submit:

a) Properly completed and signed application and questionnaire (forms published on the Institute website: https://micm.edu.ge/), along with supporting documentation: diploma, certificate, license, reference, etc. (original and copy);

b) Document confirming scientific/academic degree (original and copy);

c) Documents confirming scientific-research experience (stages), certified by the respective organization/institution with a stamp;

d) List of scientific and teaching-methodological works, certified by the competent person of the respective organization/institution or its structural unit. Journals with impact factor (Web of Science) should be marked “IF,” and Scopus-indexed journals should be marked “SJR”;

e) Identity document (original and copy);

f) Two photographs 3×4 cm;

g) Certificate of no criminal record for offenses against sexual freedom and integrity, and certificate of rights revocation.

Note: persons who have already submitted these certificates to the University Human Capital Management Department are exempt from submission.

III. Competition Procedure

The competition will be conducted in accordance with the Law of Georgia “On Higher Education,” the University Charter, and the “Rules for Hiring Scientific Personnel at the Niko Mushelishvili Institute of Computational Mathematics,” which the applicant will be familiarized with at the Scientific Council, Competition Commission, University, and Institute websites.

The Scientific Council/Competition Commission will take into account: the applicant’s qualifications and competence for the position, including scientific-research, practical, and other activities, achievements, qualifications, experience, and merits; also, the results of interviews conducted with the applicant(s) (as determined by the Scientific Council/Competition Commission).

The results of the competition may be appealed in court according to the applicable legislation.
