GTU Congratulates Prominent Georgian Scientist and Geologist Giorgi Maghalashvili on His 95th Birthday
The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, on behalf of the university community, congratulates the Georgian scientist and geologist, Doctor of Geology and Mineralogical Sciences, Emeritus of the Georgian Technical University, Chief Scientific Advisor of the Irakli Zhordania Center for the Study of Industrial Forces and Natural Resources of Georgia, Full Member of the Georgian Engineering Academy, the European and Russian Academies of Natural Sciences, Honored Geologist of Georgia, recipient of the Order of Honor and the GTU Gold Medal, laureate of the Kalistrate Gabunia Prize, the first discoverer of four mineral deposits, Professor Giorgi Maghalashvili on his 95th birthday.
“Professor Giorgi Magalashvili’s many years of scientific, educational, and public activity are outstanding in both scope and significance. His research, fundamental works, and practical activities are invaluable in the development of Georgian geological science. Mr. Giorgi’s name is associated with several significant discoveries that enhance the country’s economic potential and promote the rational use of natural resources.
Professor Giorgi Magalashvili’s contribution to the upbringing of the younger generation and the formation of a scientific school is particularly noteworthy. Many students and researchers educated by him continue their activities successfully both in Georgia and abroad.
Professor Giorgi Magalashvili’s 95 years are a worthy and fruitful life path, entirely connected to his homeland, his family, the Georgian Technical University, science, and the upbringing of future generations.

Giorgi Magalashvili is the author of more than 200 scientific papers, 7 auxiliary textbooks, 2 monographs, 4 new scientific innovations, 4 inventions, about twenty geological maps of various purposes, and 3 geological and geophysical methods. He has participated in more than 40 scientific forums.
