“It is a great honor for the Women’s Association of the Georgian Technical University that we were able to celebrate March 8th with gratitude and respect. Our charity event, which has been held for several years with the initiative and support of the Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze, aims to visit those outstanding female scientists of the university who are already over 90 years old and who have made a significant contribution to the formation and development of the university’s scientific and academic traditions. These women are not only an example of professionalism but also a living symbol of the transfer of knowledge and experience between generations. Their many years of academic and scientific activity have created the intellectual environment on which our university is based today,” said Professor Nazi Kutsiava, head of the Women’s Association of the Georgian Technical University, at the Women’s Day event.

At the initiative of the Women’s Association, and with the active participation of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems and the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Chemical Technologies, the Women’s Day event was held. During the event, gifts were presented to distinguished women scientists of the university in recognition of their outstanding contributions.

As the Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems states, such initiatives are especially important for supporting and appreciating people who have made a significant contribution to the development of the university and science. According to Professor Taliko Zhvania, the university is a large academic family, where mutual support, respect, and preservation of traditions are of particular importance.

“The tradition that exists at our university is especially valuable – to appreciate and pay attention to the people who have faithfully served science and the education of the younger generation for many years. The charity event organized by the Women’s Association of the Georgian Technical University is an expression of such values. It was especially emotional and important to visit the accomplished women scientists who are already over 90 years old and whose professional lives are closely connected with the university’s development. These people are a crucial part of our academic history. The scientific and pedagogical heritage they created still influences the educational environment of the university. It is precisely as a result of their hard work, knowledge, and dedication that has formed the strong academic foundation upon which our university is based”, the Dean states.

According to the Dean of the GTU Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Chemical Technologies, the activities of the Georgian Technical University Women’s Association once again emphasize the university’s humane values, collegial relations, and the responsibility that the university has towards its distinguished scientists.

“Aza Danelia, Nanuli Tevzadze, Lena Kalandadze, Neli Maisuradze, Elmira Chkhikvadze, Meri Tsitsishvili, Neli Chichinadze, Elisabed Khukhunaishvili, Ira Chkheidze – these people are the bearers of our academic traditions. Many years of their scientific and pedagogical activity are a solid foundation for the successes our university has achieved today. Their experience, professionalism, and dedication to science provide a special example for future generations. Such initiatives are not only a way to express gratitude, but also remind us of the importance of the unity of the academic community and the continuous connection between generations. I am confident that such activities will continue in the future and will further strengthen the values on which our university stands – academicism, mutual respect, collegiality, and dedication to science”, states Liana Targamadze.
