A Two-Day Working Meeting of the ERASMUS+ CBHE Project ERIC-GE Held at GTU
A two-day working meeting was held at the Georgian Technical University within the framework of the project “Strengthening Research and Innovation Capacities in Georgian Higher Education Institutions” (ERIC-GE), which won the EU 2025 ERASMUS+ CBHE (Capacity Building in Higher Education) competition.
At the meeting, the academic and administrative staff of the Georgian Technical University, together with partner institutions representatives, discussed the project’s goals, objectives, and a detailed plan for future activities.
The parties paid special attention to important issues such as deepening international cooperation, strengthening institutional capacities in research and innovation, introducing modern educational approaches, and integrating them into the educational process.
According to the Head of Administration (Chancellor) of the Georgian Technical University and the project coordinator, the consortium “Strengthening Research and Innovation Capacities in Georgian Higher Education Institutions” comprises 8 higher education institutions: 6 in Georgia and 2 across Europe. The project has received funding of 355,977 euros over the next two years.
According to Professor Carlo Kopaliani, the Georgian Technical University and the “Techinform” Institute have won two additional projects out of the remaining four projects across Georgia, with the status of a partner organization. Over the next three years, the university, in partnership with European and Asian countries, will lead the implementation of various scientific and educational processes, which will significantly contribute to strengthening the country’s educational space and expanding international cooperation.
“Winning the EU ERASMUS+ CBHE 2025 competition and coordinating the project is an important and responsible mission for the Georgian Technical University. This is not only a concrete institutional success, but also a recognition of the scientific and academic potential that our university has been developing for years. The project strengthens the direction of research and innovation, introduces modern educational and assessment methods, and expands the international partnership network. It is especially important that we implement the initiative as a coordinator, which implies leadership, assuming high responsibility, and strategic management of processes. Our involvement ensures that the project results are actually reflected in the development of both the university and the country’s higher education system. We are confident that this cooperation will contribute to the growth of academic quality, the expansion of youth opportunities, and the integration of Georgia into the European educational and scientific space. I would like to emphasize the contribution of the Institute “Techinform”, and particularly, the Deputy Director, Professor Mari Razmadze’s merit, in the victory and implementation of the project. Under her leadership, the project concept and future strategic plan were developed, which increased the chances of the project’s success,” said Carlo Kopaliani.
The meeting participants discussed the mechanisms for implementing the project, defined responsibilities, and planned the next stages, which will significantly contribute to the development of both universities and the country’s higher education system.
