GTU Rector Congratulates Orthodox Christians on the Glorious Holiday of Easter
The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Chairman of the Standing Conference of Rectors of Higher Educational Institutions of Georgia, Academician David Gurgenidze, congratulates Orthodox Christians, students, and professors on the glorious holiday of Easter.
“Dear compatriots, I warmly congratulate you on the glorious holiday of Easter—Christ is Risen! Truly, He is Risen. As it is said, ‘He took the visible and revealed the invisible.’
The Resurrection of the Lord is the triumph of life over death. It is the greatest Christian celebration, symbolizing the power of faith, love, and unity-values that have strengthened our nation for centuries and shaped its historical path. The Resurrection of Christ teaches us that behind every trial lies the possibility of renewal and a new beginning. This unity of spirit has been the strength that has saved our country many times, giving us the opportunity to persevere and develop even in the most difficult periods. The profound meaning of this glorious Easter once again reminds us of the spiritual leaders of our nation, including the beloved father of Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II. For decades, he guided the nation along the path of true values, strengthening faith, love, and unity among Georgian citizens. His life and funeral became a lasting testament to these ideals. Through his personal example, His Holiness and Beatitude showed us the essence of human life, the unbroken chain of Georgian statehood, and the divine formula of survival and development – “God, Homeland, Human”.
Orthodoxy has played, and continues to play, a crucial role in shaping Georgia’s history and national identity. Even 1,700 years after Christianity was declared the state religion, our spiritual traditions remain deeply intertwined with culture, science, and education. For centuries, the Church has served as a center of faith, knowledge, and learning, where manuscripts were created and preserved, and where writing, philosophy, and science flourished.
I would especially like to address the younger generation – dear students, you are the creators of Georgia’s future. The glorious holiday of Easter gives you an opportunity to reflect on your role and responsibility in society. Our shared goal is to build an environment where knowledge, spirituality, and innovation serve the development of our country.
I wish you peace, good health, spiritual strength, and success. Christ is risen! Truly He is risen!”
