The Scientific Council of GTU’s Institute of Mathematics Announces a Competition for Scientific Positions
The Scientific Council of the Niko Muskhelishvili Institute of Computational Mathematics of the Georgian Technical University announces an open competition for the following scientific positions:
- Academician Shalva Mikeladze Computational Center:
Chief Scientific Researcher – 0.5 FTE
- Department of Mathematical Modeling:
Scientific Researcher – 0.5 FTE
- Department of Artificial Intelligence:
Scientific Researcher – 0.5 FTE
Applications will be accepted from 5 August through 7 August 2026, from 11:00 to 15:00, at the Niko Muskhelishvili Institute of Computational Mathematics, 77 Kostava Street, Tbilisi 0160. Contact person: Nino Bokuchava, Tel.: 595 65 80 27.
The competition will be conducted by the Competition Committee on 12 August 2026. The preliminary results of the competition will be published no later than 12 August 2026 in a clearly visible location at the Institute and on the Institute’s website: https://micm.edu.ge/.
Applications/complaints concerning violations of the competition procedures may be submitted to the Competition Committee through 17 August 2026.

1. Competition Requirements
The main requirements of the competition are as follows:
- Chief Scientific Researcher: Applicants must hold a doctoral degree or an equivalent academic degree and have at least six years of experience in scientific research. This includes not only employment in a scientific position at a research institution, higher education institution, or other relevant organization, but also published scientific research. Applicants must have scientific publications published or accepted for publication during the last five years, including at least one publication in a journal with an impact factor indexed in Web of Science and at least three additional publications in journals indexed in Scopus.
- Scientific Researcher: Applicants must hold a master’s degree or an equivalent academic degree and have scientific publications published or accepted for publication during the last five years, including at least two publications in journals indexed in Scopus. This latter requirement does not apply to applicants participating in a scientific researcher competition for the first time.
Candidates for scientific positions (Chief Scientific Researcher and Scientific Researcher) shall be appointed for a five-year term.
Applicants wishing to participate in the competition must personally, or through an authorized representative, submit the following documents:
a) A duly completed and signed application and questionnaire (the forms will be published on the Institute’s website https://micm.edu.ge/), together with documentation verifying the information provided therein, such as diplomas, certificates, credentials, awards, official statements, etc. (original and copy);
b) Documentation certifying the applicant’s scientific/academic degree (original and copy);
c) Document(s) certifying scientific research experience (length of service), duly certified by the seal of the relevant organization/institution;
d) A list of scientific and teaching-methodological publications and works, certified by the signature and seal of an authorized representative of the relevant institution/organization or its structural unit. Publications in journals with an impact factor indexed in Web of Science must be marked with the abbreviation “IF,” while publications in journals indexed in Scopus must be marked with the abbreviation “SJR”;
e) Identity card (original and photocopy);
f) Two photographs, 3×4 cm;
g) A certificate concerning any criminal conviction for an offense against sexual freedom and inviolability, and a certificate concerning deprivation of the right to engage in relevant activities;
Note: Applicants are exempt from submitting these certificates if they have already submitted them to the University’s Human Resources Management and Records Management Service.
III. Competition Procedure
The competition will be conducted in accordance with the Law of Georgia on Higher Education, the University Statutes, and the “Regulation on the Recruitment of Scientific Personnel of the Niko Muskhelishvili Institute of Computational Mathematics.” Applicants may review these documents at the Competition Committee and on the websites of the University and the Institute.
The Competition Committee will consider the applicant’s qualifications and competencies in relation to the position, including scientific research, practical, and other activities relevant to the position, as well as the applicant’s achievements, qualifications, experience, and professional merits. The results of an interview conducted with the applicant(s), at the discretion of the Competition Committee, will also be taken into consideration.
The results of the competition may be appealed before a court in accordance with the applicable legislation.
