The strategic partnership of the Technical University of Georgia (STU) with the leading scientific centers of Japan began in 2014. It was this year that the foundation was laid for the close collaboration of researchers from the Institute of Quantum Physics and Engineering Technology of STU with the High Energy Physics Organization (KEK, Tsukuba City) and the latest research complex of the Proton Accelerator (J-PARC, Tokai City).

After ten years of successful scientific and engineering work, in October 2024, this cooperation moved to a qualitatively new, expanded stage. A new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between STU and KEK, within the framework of which Japan’s Advanced Research Graduate University SOKENDAI joined the partnership. This academic alliance provides STU students and young researchers with a unique opportunity to participate in joint master’s and doctoral programs, as well as to undergo long-term research practice directly in Japan’s ultra-modern laboratories. This international recognition of the highest level is symbolized by the fact that the leading professor of KEK, Satoshi Mihara, has been elected as an honorary doctor of STU.
