Irine Gotsiridze
Director of the International Accreditation Center
Biography
Irine Gotsiridze is Director of the International Accreditation Center of Georgian Technical University and Professor at the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems. She has worked at the university since 1995 and headed the Department of Biomedical Engineering from 2007 to 2021. During that period, biomedical engineering programmes were developed in Georgian and English at all three levels of higher education. The English-language bachelor’s programme, which she leads, received international ABET accreditation in 2023.
She took part in the EU TEMPUS project “Biomedical Engineering Education Tempus Initiative in Eastern Neighbouring Area” (2013–2016), under which a joint master’s programme in biomedical engineering was established together with Tbilisi State Medical University and Akaki Tsereteli State University. Since 2026 she has been co-chair of the project “MedTech Bridge – Joint Master Study Programme in Medical Engineering” (NAWA, KATAMARAN).
Her research interests include biomedical engineering, bioinformatics and engineering education. She is the author of a three-part textbook on biomedical engineering. She is fluent in English and Russian.
