Closing Ceremony of the 90th Open International Scientific Conference of Students Held at GTU


The closing ceremony of the 90th Open International Scientific Conference of Students and the award ceremony for the winners were held at the Georgian Technical University. For many years, the conference has served as an important academic forum that promotes the development of young researchers’ scientific potential, strengthens research competencies, and fosters international academic cooperation.

The conference was held with the support of the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, and the University Administration, and was organized by the GTU Department of Student Services, Culture and Sports. The scientific event featured 52 disciplinary sections and engaged 568 participating students.

The Faculty of Construction hosted 3 sections, with 14 students presenting their research; the Faculty of Power Engineering organized 6 sections, with 69 students; the Faculty of Mining Geology and Sustainable Mountain Development held 6 sections, with 51 students; the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Chemical Technology conducted 9 sections, with 54 students; the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Design featured 2 sections, with 133 students; the Faculty of Law and International Relations organized 2 sections, with 35 students; the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems held 8 sections, with 124 students; the International Design School hosted 1 section, with 6 students; the Faculty of Business Technologies organized 4 sections, with 26 students; the Faculty of Social Sciences held 4 sections, with 19 students; and the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering conducted 7 sections, with 37 students participating.

The 90th Open International Scientific Conference of Students, held from June 5th to June 20th, recognized 117 students with first-place awards. The winners were awarded during the conference’s closing ceremony.

The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, expressed his gratitude to all conference participants and the organizing team, particularly the Department of Student Services, Culture and Sports and its Head, Levan Pipia. He emphasized that the International Scientific Conference of Students stands as one of the university’s most significant academic traditions, which has been providing young researchers with the opportunity to present their scientific ideas, share research experiences, and develop professionally for nine decades.

According to the Rector, the conference creates an environment in which students learn modern research methods, develop critical thinking and academic communication skills, establish professional connections with both Georgian and international colleagues, and become actively involved in the global scientific community.

According to GTU Vice-Rector Professor Tamar Lominadze, the conference continues to grow each year, with increasing participation from international students. She noted that the conference is not only a platform for presenting research results but also an opportunity to generate new scientific ideas, build professional networks, and establish future collaborations. As Professor Lominadze noted, the conference covered a broad spectrum of topics, including civil engineering, architecture and urban development, informatics, artificial intelligence, biomedical engineering, chemical technology and environmental engineering, mining geology, energy, and the humanities. She emphasized that the students demonstrated remarkable depth of knowledge and strong academic preparation across all disciplines.

“The papers presented at the conference once again demonstrated that our students are actively engaged in addressing the most important challenges of modern science and technology. They offer innovative perspectives and are well prepared to take their place within both the Georgian and international scientific communities. I congratulate the winning students on this remarkable achievement.
