International Scientific Conference ICSCCW-2026 at GTU


“Hosting an international scientific conference is of particular importance to Georgian Technical University. The event brings together leading scientists and researchers from various countries, creating a significant academic platform to discuss current issues in one of the fastest-growing fields of modern science — Artificial Intelligence, Soft Computing, and Fuzzy Mathematics. The special value of ICSCCW-2026 lies in the fact that its scientific foundation is linked to the fundamental scientific legacy of the universally recognized mathematician and electrical engineer, Professor Lotfi Zadeh. The theory of fuzzy logic formulated by Professor Zadeh, along with his research in fuzzy mathematics, fundamentally transformed approaches to describing and modeling complex systems where information is not always precise or unambiguous. Today, as artificial intelligence systems increasingly operate under conditions of incomplete, vague, and multidimensional information, Lotfi Zadeh’s scientific ideas become exceptionally relevant,” stated Professor Tamar Lominadze, Vice-Rector of Georgian Technical University, at the opening ceremony of the international conference —”13th International Conference on Theory and Application of Soft Computing, Computing with Words, Perception and Artificial Intelligence – ICSCCW-2026.

The 13th International Conference, organized by the Zadeh’s Heritage and Artificial Intelligence Association (Baku, Azerbaijan), the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, Georgian Technical University, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, the Berkeley Initiative in Soft Computing (BISC, USA), the University of Siegen (Germany), the University of Texas (USA), Georgia State University (USA), the University of Alberta (Canada), the University of Toronto (Canada), the Systems Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Near East University (Cyprus), and the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was opened by the Chairman of ICSCCW-2026, Professor Rafik Aliev. According to the Chairman of ICSCCW-2026, fuzzy logic and soft computing are currently used on a large scale in modern technologies, industrial systems, and decision-making analysis. Consequently, the 13th conference, dedicated to the memory of the genius scientist Lotfi Zadeh, is called upon to foster further research in this field, attract young researchers, and facilitate the broad sharing of research experience among conference participants.

At his request, the audience paid tribute to the memory of the renowned scientist, Professor Lotfi Zadeh, who passed away in 2017, with a minute of silence.

As the Vice-Rector of GTU noted in her speech, hosting this conference presents an excellent opportunity for Georgian Technical University to once again showcase its scientific potential, research resources, and international partnerships.

“Our goal is for Georgian Technical University to serve not only as a hub for sharing knowledge and supporting research, but also as an active center for generating modern scientific ideas and presenting them on the international stage. In this regard, hosting ICSCCW-2026 is of particular significance to us, as the conference allows us to bring together leading researchers from various countries in one space and foster deeper professional dialogue and partnership among them.

The involvement of Georgian scientists, young researchers, and doctoral students in such international scientific forums is especially crucial. It gives them the opportunity to explore contemporary research trends, present their own findings to the international scientific community, establish new professional contacts, and build a foundation for joint research projects and scientific collaboration,”

For information, the international conference ICSCCW-2026 will run for two days across 7 sections. Scientists will discuss the following relevant scientific topics and areas: “Z-numbers in Multi-Stage Fuzzy Decision-Making and Control: Higher Expressive Power, but at a Certain Cost”; “Soft Computing and Artificial Intelligence in Engineering”; “Towards Type-2 Z-numbers”; “Theory and Application of Soft Computing”; “Decision Theory Under Conditions of Incomplete Information”; “Informed Machine Learning: New Opportunities”; “A New Direction in Temporal Fuzzy Modeling for Emergency Logistics Planning in Disaster Regions”; “Advances in Type-3 Fuzzy Systems and Their Control”; “The Logical Axis in Data Granulation”; “Type-3 Fuzzy Inference Using Similarity Measures”, among others. Participating scientists will summarize the scientific topics and key issues discussed in the sections during a round-table format session.
