At the Georgian Technical University, within the framework of the 26th World Week of the Italian Language, the Tbilisi Committee of the Società Dante Alighieri presented the fourth cycle of the international educational project “Dante.global”, which is currently underway at the university.

This year’s theme, “A Language of Genius: From Idea to Realization, Through the Italian Language,” highlights the creative potential and significance of the Italian language in bringing ideas to life, professional development, cultural exchange, and forming new relationships.

The rector of the Georgian Technical University, academician David Gurgenidze, opened the event. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy to Georgia, His Excellency Massimiliano D’Antuono; President of the Dante Alighieri Society-Tbilisi Committee, and head of the Italian Language and Culture Center of GTU, Nino Tsertsvadze; other guests, the academic community and students attended the event.

The rector discussed possibilities for deepening scientific, educational, cultural, and economic relations between Georgia and Italy. As David Gurgenidze mentioned, within the framework of the cooperation between the Dante Alighieri Society-Tbilisi Committee and the Georgian Technical University, the international educational project “Dante. Global” is being implemented at the university with the support of the Italian Embassy in Georgia and the Rome head office of the Dante Alighieri Society.

“For Georgian Technical University, deepening academic and cultural relations with Italy is particularly important. Collaboration with the Tbilisi Committee of the Società Dante Alighieri, the Embassy of Italy, and the Società Dante Alighieri headquarters in Rome facilitates joint educational projects, promotes the Italian language and culture, and expands international educational opportunities for students.

Developing cooperation between the Georgian Technical University and leading Italian universities is especially important. Such a partnership creates opportunities to share experience, implement joint research and educational projects, facilitate the exchange of academic staff and students, and introduce innovative approaches. Close collaboration with Italian colleagues will strengthen the university’s standing in the international academic sphere and deepen scientific and educational ties between Georgia and Italy.

I would like to express my special gratitude to the Ambassador of Italy to Georgia, His Excellency Massimiliano D’Antuono, as well as to the Italian Government and the Italian side, for their support of this significant educational initiative. Their support promotes the Italian language and culture in Georgia, creates new opportunities for the youth, and strengthens friendly relations between our two countries. I am confident that the educational project “Dante.global” will further foster interest in learning the Italian language among the young people and help solidify the friendly ties between Georgia and Italy.”
