“Tegeta” Modern Training Center Opens at GTU

“The Georgian Technical University considers the development of close and results-oriented cooperation with the private sector to be one of the most important foundations of modern engineering education. The university successfully operates several modern educational and research laboratories and centers established and equipped through active partnerships with the private sector. Particularly noteworthy is the modern training center created by “Tegeta Holding” at the university, which offers students unique opportunities for practice-based learning. Equally important is our cooperation with leading companies in the energy, mining, geological, and utilities sectors, including “Georgian State Electrosystem”, “Energo-Pro Georgia”, “Telasi”, “Georgian Water and Power”, “SOCAR Georgia Gas”, “RMG”, and others. Through these close partnerships, the university provides students with valuable practical training,” said Academician David Gurgenidze, Rector of the Georgian Technical University, at the opening of the “Tegeta” Modern Training Center at the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering, in the “Business Hub space”.

During the opening ceremony of the training center, the Georgian Technical University and “Tegeta Holding” formalized their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Cooperation. The event was attended by the President of the Supervisory Board of the Georgian Technical University, Professor Zurab Gudavadze; Vice-Rector, Professor Tamar Tsereteli; Dean of the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering, Associate Professor Boris Gitolendia; Dean of the Faculty of Construction, Professor Zurab Gvishiani; Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Design, Professor Nugzar Khvedeliani; members of the scientific and academic community and students; as well as Chief Executive Officer of “Tegeta Holding” Ekaterine Kavtaradze, Chief Corporate Services Officer Rusudan Sanikidze, and company representatives.

As Rector Academician David Gurgenidze noted, this new stage of cooperation aims to strengthen the connection between higher education and the business sector, create a modern learning environment, and provide students with knowledge based on practical experience.

“The partnership between the university and the private sector creates an integrated cooperation model in which the university, as an educational and scientific center, and the private sector, as a source of practical experience, unite around a common goal – to prepare highly qualified, competitive specialists who are fully equipped to meet the demands of the labor market. This cooperation is especially beneficial for students, as it provides them with access to a real professional environment during their studies, enabling them to gain valuable practical experience. Integration with the private sector allows us to align our educational programs with the actual needs of the labor market and ensure the competitiveness of our graduates.

For the private sector, such cooperation is an important investment in strengthening human capital, as partner companies actively participate in shaping a new generation of specialists, ensuring that young people’s professional skills meet the industry’s evolving requirements.

The Georgian Technical University successfully operates educational, research, and practical spaces, as well as modern laboratories established through close cooperation with various organizations, including private-sector partners. I am confident that the educational center established with the support of “Tegeta Holding” will attract significant interest and appreciation from our students. I would like to express my gratitude to “Tegeta Holding” and its founder, Mr. Temur Kokhodze, one of our distinguished graduates, for their support. I also sincerely thank all of the Georgian Technical University’s partners for their valuable contribution to the professional and career development of the youth.”

The training programs planned under the Memorandum of Cooperation will be available not only to students but also to practicing specialists and aspiring auto mechanics, who will have the opportunity to receive training and enhance their qualifications in accordance with European standards.
