GTU Rector Expresses His Condolences over the Passing of Distinguished Researcher and Engineer Guram Amkoladze


The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Chairman of the Standing Conference of Rectors of Georgia, Academician David Gurgenidze, on behalf of the university’s scientific and academic community, expresses his condolences over the passing of the distinguished researcher, engineer, educator, and Professor, Guram Amkoladze.

“On behalf of the Rectorate and the Academic Council of the Georgian Technical University, I express my deepest condolences over the passing of our distinguished colleague, Professor Guram Amkoladze.

Mr. Guram faithfully served the Georgian Technical University and dedicated decades of his life to educating future generations. Under his leadership and with his active participation, numerous strategic projects of national importance were implemented. His rich academic legacy in the fields of engineering and economics – more than 70 scientific publications and 12 textbooks – remains an invaluable contribution to Georgia’s educational and scientific community.

Professor Guram Amkoladze made a significant contribution to the development of Georgia’s energy sector, enterprise economics, and automated management systems. His many years of distinguished scientific and pedagogical work will always serve as an example of professionalism, integrity, and dedication for future generations. His name is closely associated with the implementation of some of the country’s most important projects, including the development of automated management systems for “Sakenergo”. His scientific works and textbooks have left a lasting mark on Georgian engineering and economic thought.

On behalf of our university, I extend my sincere condolences to Guram Amkoladze’s family, his colleagues at the Faculty of Power Engineering, his relatives, and the many thousands of students whose lives he touched. The memory of this devoted teacher and honorable person will forever remain a part of the history of the Georgian Technical University.”
