International Scientific Conference “Dialogue of Civilizations, Problems and Challenges” Held at GTU
The II International Scientific Conference “Dialogue of Civilizations, Problems and Challenges” was held at the Georgian Technical University, organized by the Faculty of Law and International Relations, within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between GTU and Lanzhou University of Technology, China.
The scientific event, in which the Dean of the Faculty of Law and International Relations, Associate Professor Ivane (Mamuka) Giorgadze, representatives of the academic and scientific circles of the faculty, students of master’s and doctoral programs, as well as Professor Li Ziwei of Lanzhou University of Technology and members of the Chinese university delegation participated, was opened by the Vice-Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Professor Tamar Lominadze.
The Vice-Rector spoke about the importance of international scientific cooperation and the need to deepen partnerships between universities. According to her, the modern world, which faces a number of global challenges – science, education, and intercultural dialogue are the most important tools for strengthening mutual trust, peace, and sustainable development among states and peoples.
“For the Georgian Technical University, it is important to expand international academic and scientific cooperation and develop partnerships that create new opportunities in the field of education, research, and innovation. We are pleased that cooperation with Lanzhou University of Technology is progressing successfully, and that holding a joint scientific conference has already become a tradition. I would like to convey to the participants of the conference the best wishes of the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, and wish them success.
I am confident that this scientific event and its topics will further deepen cooperation between Georgian and Chinese scientists, promote the implementation of joint research projects, sharing of experience and integration of students and young researchers into the international scientific and academic space. It is particularly important that the topics of the conference include dialogue between civilizations, international relations, global security, cultural heritage, and modern world challenges, which once again emphasizes the special role of science in strengthening common values and developing international cooperation”.

Professor Li Ziwei of Lanzhou University of Technology, Associate Professor Ivane (Mamuka) Giorgadze, Dean of the Faculty of Law and International Relations of GTU, and Associate Professor Levan Osidze of GTU spoke about the importance of the conference. They focused on the need for joint scientific research, dialogue among civilizations, intercultural understanding, and strengthening international academic cooperation in response to global challenges.
The II International Scientific Conference “Dialogue of Civilizations, Problems and Challenges” was held in four sections. GTU scientists, master’s and doctoral students, as well as researchers from Lanzhou University of Technology presented reports, including: “Georgian-Chinese Relations in the Era of Global Transformations – Historical Experience, Current Challenges and Future Prospects”; “Challenges of China-West Asia Higher Education Cooperation and Optimal Development Paths from the Perspective of Mutual Understanding of Silk Road Civilizations”; “Niko Nikoladze on the Sino-Japanese Confrontation in Korea in the 1880s-1890s”; “Language Services in the Development Process of the Belt and Road Initiative: Significance, Challenges and Response Strategies”; “US-China Relations and Challenges of World Politics”; “Harmony in Coexistence: Overcoming Global Challenges through Dialogue of Civilizations”; “The Silk Road of Knowledge: Preservation of Traditional Knowledge and Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”; “The Impact of the Hong Kong Reintegration Precedent on the Prospects for Restoring Georgia’s Territorial Integrity”; “Dialogue of Cultures – the Basis of Peace and Global Cooperation”; “On the Classical Understanding of ‘Developmentalism’ and Its Reinterpretation”; “Legal Security of Georgia in the Implementation of Tax Policy”; “Regulation of Electricity in Foreign Countries”; “Types of Modern Conflicts and Their Characteristics”; “Peculiarities of China’s Geopolitics”; The concept of “Tianxia” (“Under All Sky”) and the paradigm of dialogue among civilizations in the era of modern global challenges”; “Georgian-Chinese economic relations within the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative”; “The decision-making process in the UN and its impact on international politics”; “The issue of the modern political status of Taiwan”; “Dialogue between cultures – a necessary condition for the self-preservation of humanity”; “Georgia’s role in the geopolitical space and the necessity of dialogue between cultures” and others.
