GTU Rector Expresses Condolences to the Georgian State University of Sport over the Passing of Head of Administration Merab Metreveli

The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Chairman of the Standing Conference of Rectors of Georgia, Academician David Gurgenidze, on behalf of the university community, expresses his deep sorrow over the passing of Professor Merab Metreveli, Head of Administration of the Georgian State University of Sport, and extends his sincere condolences to Professor Metreveli’s family, relatives, the Georgian State University of Sport, and the Georgian sports community.

“With the passing of Professor Merab Metreveli, the Georgian sports and academic community has lost a person distinguished by exceptional professionalism, responsibility, and dignity. He dedicated the most important years of his life to the development of Georgian sport, higher education, and the upbringing of future generations. Through his devoted service to national sport, he left a lasting and worthy legacy within the university community.

His experience, professional excellence, personal integrity, outstanding organizational skills, and unwavering dedication earned him the respect of colleagues and students alike. At the same time, he made a significant contribution to the development of the Georgian State University of Sport and to sports education in Georgia.
