GTU Announces Enrollment in Five Intensive Short-Term Professional Courses under Tbilisi City Hall’s “Study and Get Employed” Programme
A presentation of the final report for the Spring 2026 semester of the project “GTU Professional Training Courses,” implemented under Tbilisi City Hall’s “Study and Get Employed” programme, was held at Georgian Technical University.
The event was opened by GTU Vice-Rector Professor Tamar Tsereteli and attended by Sopho Ugrekhelidze, Head of the Education and Youth Affairs Division of Tbilisi City Hall; participants in the “Study and Get Employed” programme; Professor Ketevan Kutateladze, Dean of the Faculty of Energy; Professor Taliko Zhvania, Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems; Rati Gurgenidze, Manager of the “GTU Professional Training Courses” project and Adviser to the Rector; and invited guests.
According to the Vice-Rector, short-term, intensive professional courses play a crucial role in responding promptly to labour market demands and training qualified professionals. Professor Tamar Tsereteli noted that these courses offer one of the fastest ways for citizens to acquire the skills required for their chosen professions and find their place in the labour market. As the Vice-Rector emphasized, Tbilisi City Hall’s longstanding efforts to successfully implement the “Study and Get Employed” programme are particularly commendable.
“On behalf of the Rector of Georgian Technical University, Academician Davit Gurgenidze, I would like to thank Tbilisi City Hall for its close and productive cooperation. Through the ‘Study and Get Employed’ programme, participants are given a unique opportunity to acquire, entirely free of charge, the skills required for professions that are in high demand in the labour market, are highly specialised, and, in many cases, are rarely encountered. We are pleased that Georgian Technical University, with its strong material and technical resources and academic expertise, plays an important role in this invaluable initiative.”

Rati Gurgenidze, Manager of the “GTU Professional Training Courses” project, presented the final report to the audience. He noted that the project was implemented from May 1 to August 31, 2026, during the Spring Semester of the 2025–2026 academic year, with funding from the City Service for Culture, Education, Sports and Youth Affairs of Tbilisi Municipality, the direct involvement of the Education and Youth Affairs Division of Tbilisi City Hall, and the organization of Georgian Technical University. A total of 75 residents of Tbilisi Municipality participated in the project.
According to Rati Gurgenidze, 15 participants completed the short-term professional training course for assistant installers of renewable energy equipment (installation of solar photovoltaic and thermal systems), 25 completed the professional training course for video surveillance system technicians, 15 completed the course on planning and managing building energy supply using renewable resources (energy auditing), and 20 completed the professional training course for electric vehicle charging equipment specialists (installation and system maintenance).
As noted at the meeting, the next phase of the project is scheduled to begin on November 1, 2026, and will offer new intensive short-term professional courses for a total of 105 participants. Specifically, the fully accredited professional training course for occupational health and safety specialists will accommodate 40 participants (one group); the course for construction site managers will accommodate 20 participants (one group); the course for installers of plumbing, heating, and hot water systems will accommodate 15 participants (one group); the course on elevator installation and safe operation will accommodate 15 participants (one group); and the course on automotive electrical systems will accommodate 15 participants (one group).

Tbilisi Municipality’s “Study and Get Employed” programme was launched in 2018. Its aim is to promote employment among job seekers by providing intensive short-term professional training. The programme offers vocational training and retraining to Tbilisi-registered residents in nearly 50 occupations in demand in the labour market, covering such fields as construction, engineering, food technology, tourism, services, information technology, design, transport, finance, healthcare, and veterinary medicine.
