Memorandum of Understanding Signed Between GTU and Oil and Gas Corporation
Vice-Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Professor Tamar Tsereteli, and General Director of the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation, Ekaterine Sisauri, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the university and the corporation to promote interaction between the country’s economy, labor market, and education system, as well as the development of higher and vocational education.
The memorandum envisages cooperation between the parties in the fields of education, science, innovation, professional development, practical training for students of the Faculty of Mining Geology and Sustainable Mountain Development at GTU, and the preparation of qualified personnel. Within the framework of the agreement, special attention will be paid to developing practical skills for students and young specialists, implementing internship programs, and planning and carrying out joint educational and research projects.
According to the Vice-Rector of the Georgian Technical University, the modern labor market requires highly qualified, competitive, and practice-oriented specialists, making close cooperation between the academic sector and employing organizations essential. As Professor Tamar Tsereteli states, the partnership between the Georgian Technical University and the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation aims to create additional opportunities for students’ professional development, promote their employment, and prepare the personnel needed for the country’s energy sector. According to her, the cooperation will also include thematic seminars, training sessions, public lectures, scientific-practical conferences, and other joint events, allowing students and academic staff to become acquainted with modern trends and challenges in the field.
“The modern economy increasingly requires both highly academically qualified specialists and professionals focused on practical skills. That is why developing partnership relations is essential for the Georgian Technical University, as it ensures the effective integration of education, science, and industry. The Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation serves this purpose precisely.
The Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation is one of the country’s key energy companies, whose activities are closely linked to Georgia’s energy security and economic development. Therefore, it is especially important for us that students and young researchers gain practical experience in a real working environment and become acquainted with modern industrial processes and technological innovations in the field. The memorandum creates broad opportunities for implementing joint educational, scientific, and research projects and also includes a vocational education component. We are confident that this cooperation will contribute not only to the development of students’ practical skills but also to strengthening applied research, promoting innovative ideas, and implementing research results in economic activities.
The Georgian Technical University has always been, and remains, an active participant in the country’s industrial, technological, and engineering development. Our goal is to create an educational environment for young people that provides them not only with fundamental knowledge but also with the opportunity to master a profession during their studies.”
