The 3rd International Student Conference “German-Georgian Student Conference (GGSC) – 2026” Opens at GTU

The 3rd International Student Conference, “German-Georgian Student Conference (GGSC) – 2026,” was officially opened at Georgian Technical University, organized by the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems in collaboration with Dresden University of Applied Sciences. The event aims to deepen Georgian-German academic cooperation, promote the development of student research, and expand the participation of young researchers in the international educational community.

The conference was opened by Professor Taliko Zhvania, Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems. Professor Mario Neugebauer of Dresden University of Applied Sciences welcomed the audience. The event brings together students and academic representatives from both countries, for whom international scientific cooperation provides valuable opportunities to share knowledge, exchange research experience, and advance professional development.

According to the Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems, the German-Georgian Student Conference is a platform for Georgian-German academic cooperation that brings together students, researchers, and academic communities from Georgia and Germany within a shared scientific space. Its aim is to create an environment where young researchers can present their research, share scientific experience, discuss current issues, and establish professional contacts to foster the development of international academic cooperation.

“International scientific cooperation is becoming increasingly important in the modern higher education system. The internationalization of knowledge, the sharing of research experience, and the exchange of approaches developed in different academic environments contribute both to the development of students’ research competencies and to the establishment of sustainable partnerships between universities. In this regard, GGSC provides students with the opportunity to present their academic work to an international audience, gain diverse research experience, and expand their professional networks.

The 3rd International Student Conference will feature student research papers across various fields. Participants will present their research and findings to the academic community, fostering scientific discussion, highlighting research interests, and encouraging the development of new ideas. The conference format enables students to connect theoretical knowledge with research practice.

Student scientific conferences are an important component of higher education, as they contribute to the development of a research-oriented academic culture. Preparing and presenting a research paper requires identifying a research problem, analyzing relevant information, developing evidence-based arguments, and presenting findings in accordance with academic standards. In an international setting, this process takes on additional significance, as communication with participants from diverse academic backgrounds creates opportunities to examine research issues from multiple perspectives and identify new avenues for scientific cooperation.”

– Professor Taliko Zhvania

The 2026 conference brings together 10 students and two professors from Dresden University of Applied Sciences. One of the key components of the conference is the publication of student research papers. The conference proceedings will be published by Dresden University of Applied Sciences, helping to showcase the research findings of Georgian and German students within the international academic community and increase their visibility. The inclusion of research papers in the proceedings provides young researchers with an opportunity to document their research, share their findings, and gain experience in academic communication. Furthermore, publishing their work in an international academic environment represents an important milestone in the development of students’ research activities.

The significance of GGSC extends beyond the presentation of student research and the exchange of scientific experience. The conference also aims to strengthen cooperation between Georgian and German universities, promote student mobility, and establish new scientific and educational partnerships. Developing international ties between universities facilitates the exchange of knowledge and experience, broadens research areas, and creates international educational opportunities for students.
