The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, and the University Community Respond to the Decision of the Government of Georgia on Establishing the Georgian Technical University as One of the Major and Leading Technical-Technological Higher Education Institutions in the Region.
The rapidly changing global reality, labor market demands, and the development of an innovative economy require a modern, flexible, and quality-oriented educational policy. The Georgian Technical University, with its many years of experience and academic and scientific potential, expresses its full readiness to actively participate in the process of reforming the education system.
The Rector of the Georgian Technical University and the University Community Express Their Sincere Gratitude to the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, and the Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, Givi Mikanadze, for a Constructive, Open, and Professionally-Oriented Dialogue. It is particularly important that the decision reflects both the position of the academic community and the long-term educational interests of the country: preserving the distinct identity of the Technical University as a leading center of engineering, technical, and technological education and defining its scientific and technical profile represents one of the key prerequisites for the country’s technological and industrial development and the formation of a sustainable economy.
The decision is fully in line with international practices in the diversification, specialization, and strengthening of institutional identity within the higher education system.
In the Context of Global Technological Changes, Digital Transformation, and Structural Shifts in the Labor Market, Education System Reform Represents a Matter of Strategic Importance. Within the Strategic Development Perspective, the Priorities of the Georgian Technical University Include the Modernization of Technical and Engineering Educational Programs, the Renewal of Research and Laboratory Infrastructure, the Deepening of Integration into International Academic and Scientific Networks, and the Strengthening of Technology Transfer Mechanisms. Special Attention Will Be Given to Enhancing the University’s Role in Forming an Innovative Ecosystem, Expanding Collaboration with the Private Sector, and Supporting the Professional Development of Young Researchers and Engineers.
The Georgian Technical University Views Its Mission as a Unified Platform for Education, Science, and Technological Development That Serves National and Regional Development Goals. Partnership Between the State and the Scientific-Academic Community in This Process Is Considered a Critical Factor for Ensuring the Effectiveness and Sustainability of the Reform. The University Is Prepared to Continue Responsible and Results-Oriented Cooperation for a Transformation of the Education System That Ensures the Country’s Long-Term Competitiveness.
