GTU expresses its deep sorrow over the passing of the distinguished scientist and professor.
Georgian Technical University expresses its deep sorrow over the passing of Giorgi Kirmelashvili, Professor at the Department of Engineering Mathematics within the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems, and member of the Georgian Academy of Engineering. The university community extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, loved ones, colleagues, and former students of Giorgi Kirmelashvili.
For many years, Professor Giorgi Kirmelashvili lectured in Higher Mathematics across various faculties at Georgian Polytechnic University, including Hydro-Engineering, Civil Engineering, Transportation, Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, Informatics, Mining and Geology, Sustainable Mountain Development, Energy, and Viticulture and Enology, in both Georgian and Russian sectors. His academic career began in 1958 at the Georgian Polytechnic Institute.
He published around 150 scientific works, including 4 monographs, 2 textbooks, and 5 supplementary manuals, and was the author of 14 inventions.
He was awarded the “Inventor of the USSR” medal, as well as the Order of Honor and an Honorary Diploma from Georgian Technical University.
Giorgi Kirmelashvili dedicated 67 years to scientific and pedagogical activity, raised numerous generations, and served his homeland and Georgia’s higher education institutions with devotion and humility.
