GTU Rector – May 26 Created the Foundation on Which Georgia’s Present and Future Are Built – Happy Independence Day!
The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Chairman of the Standing Conference of Rectors of Higher Educational Institutions of Georgia, and Academician, David Gurgenidze, congratulates colleagues, professors, teachers, scientists, researchers, students, and all citizens of Georgia on the 108th anniversary of the declaration of Georgia’s independence.
May 26, 1918, is one of the most important dates in Georgia’s history – the day when the Georgian nation made a clear declaration of freedom, national identity, and independent statehood, securing its rightful place on the world political map.
According to Academician David Gurgenidze, the Democratic Republic of Georgia laid a solid foundation for the national and democratic values of the modern Georgian state.
“May 26 is a day of national pride, freedom, and great state responsibility for every Georgian. It is a historic date that has become a symbol of our nation’s unwavering will, unceasing aspiration for independence, strong sense of statehood, and firm faith in the future.
Today, above all, we pay the highest respect to our ancestors — May 26 created the foundation upon which Georgia’s present and future are built. It is our duty to pass this priceless heritage on to future generations and to set a worthy example of patriotism and service to our country.
In today’s challenging world, maintaining and strengthening independence is no less difficult than achieving it. Along this path, the efforts of the Georgian government, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, and the ruling party to preserve peace and stability are of great importance. A stable and peaceful environment is the foundation for strengthening our country’s sovereignty, ensuring economic progress, and establishing a respectful place in the global democratic community. Without peace, development, and scientific progress, it is impossible to build a strong and successful state.
Congratulations on Independence Day! May love for our country, respect for our ancestors, and faith in the future unite and strengthen us as we work to create a better tomorrow. Peace, unity, and progress to our homeland!”
– Academician David Gurgenidze
