Meeting of the GTU Rector with a Delegation of Scientists from the Saarland University of Applied Sciences and Technology

“We view the development of joint doctoral programs and the securing of international scientific grants as key prospects for deepening the academic partnership between the Georgian Technical University and the Saarland University of Applied Sciences and Technology—an initiative that will elevate our institutional ties to a qualitatively new level. This collaboration serves as a strategic tool for training high-caliber researchers; it enables doctoral candidates to work under dual academic supervision and access the research infrastructure and academic resources of both the Georgian Technical University and the Saarland University of Applied Sciences and Technology. Furthermore, attracting joint research grants from European funds will provide the financial backing necessary to implement innovative projects in the field of business technologies, which will, in turn, positively impact the international rankings of both universities and scientific productivity,” The Rector of GTU and Academician, David Gurgenidze, said this during a meeting with Professor Dr. Wilhelm Hauser from the Saarland University of Applied Sciences (Germany) and students from the German university.

The meeting between Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze and a delegation from a German university who were on a working visit was attended by Vice-Rectors of the Georgian Technical University, Professors Tamar Tsereteli and Tamar Lominadze; the Dean of the Faculty of Business Technologies, Professor Rusudan Kutateladze; as well as faculty members and students.

During the meeting, the GTU Rector and the German professor reviewed the close ties between the two universities and discussed prospects for future cooperation. The parties examined in detail expanding student participation in exchange programs and involving academic staff in joint research projects.

The Rector expressed special gratitude to the Dean of the GTU Faculty of Business Technologies and to a professor from the Saarland University of Applied Sciences for the fruitful and effective scientific research being jointly conducted by the academic staff and students of the two partner universities. He noted that the partnership with the Saarland University of Applied Sciences is a successful example of an internationalization strategy, giving students and academic staff a genuine opportunity to integrate into the European educational space. David Gurgenidze emphasized the pivotal role of the Faculty of Business Technologies in this process and highlighted the prospects.

“The meeting with the German side specifically with Professor Wilhelm Hauser and members of the university delegation serves as further confirmation that our institutional ties are advancing to a qualitatively new stage. Joint research projects and scientific initiatives involving the Faculty of Business Technologies at GTU demonstrate that our academic staff and students fully meet international standards. At this stage, our goal is not only to maintain the current momentum but also to further expand our cooperation.

We are actively working to increase student mobility, allowing them to gain a unique European experience, learn modern technological and business approaches, and use this knowledge to develop Georgia further. In addition, joint research activities between professors and teachers are extremely important, contributing to scientific productivity and the transfer of knowledge between the two universities. I want to thank Professor Rusudan Kutateladze and the entire team of the Faculty of Business Technologies, as well as our German colleagues, for the fruitful partnership that is the basis of our common success.”
