GTU Graduate: “The Education I Received at the University Shaped My Professional Journey”

“My decision to study at the Faculty of Law and International Relations of Georgian Technical University was a deliberate one. When choosing a university, I was looking for an institution with strong academic staff and an innovative approach to education. Looking back today, I can confidently say that my expectations were fully met. I received much more than a diploma. The faculty provided me with a solid academic foundation, strengthened my analytical thinking, and, most importantly, inspired my interest in scientific research.” Announces Koba Chikhladze, GTU Graduate, Doctor of Law, and Professor at the Faculty of Law and International Relations.

According to Koba Chikhladze, higher education extends far beyond acquiring professional knowledge. He believes that the university experience helps students develop critical and analytical thinking, strengthen their research skills, and prepare for the demands of a rapidly evolving professional environment.

“Reflecting on the beginning of his academic journey, he recalls enrolling at Georgian Technical University after passing the national entrance examinations in 2005. I still remember my first days at the university. I entered an academic environment where highly respected practitioners and distinguished professors taught not only as experts in their fields but also as mentors who regarded students as future colleagues. After graduating from university, my life turned out to be full of interesting challenges, both academically and professionally. I can divide this path into several important stages: Immediately after completing my bachelor’s degree, I continued my studies in the master’s program, earning a Master of Laws degree. Determined to continue my academic journey, I enrolled in the doctoral program, pursued active research, and successfully defended my doctoral dissertation, earning the academic degree of Doctor of Law. During those years, I published scientific articles, participated in numerous national and international conferences, and conducted research on contemporary legal issues.”

Professionally, for one year I worked in the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Georgia, six years in the Legal Department of Tbilisi City Hall, served as a legal adviser to two private companies, and held the position of General Director of a construction company. Currently I work in the Internal Inspection Department of the Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau. It was a great honor and responsibility for me when I began teaching at my own faculty. The experience gained over the years and working with students have allowed me to progress through all levels of the academic hierarchy, and today I am a professor at the Faculty of Law and International Relations at the Georgian Technical University. It has been both an honor and a great responsibility to teach at the faculty from which I graduated. Alongside with my academic activities, I constantly tried to put theoretical knowledge into practice in order to provide students in the audience with updated, live, and practical examples.”

Koba Chikhladze emphasizes that determination, continuous self-improvement, and making the most of the opportunities offered by the university are the foundations of a successful career. He says that the most important thing to achieve success is constant development, taking responsibility, and believing in one’s own abilities.

“I would like to tell young people that they are now walking the same path I once followed. Never be afraid of challenges, and always remain committed to your goals. The fundamental legal literature is the same at every university. Ultimately, success depends not only on the educational environment but also on your own dedication, perseverance, and sense of responsibility. Do not look for excuses or blame others for your circumstances. Take responsibility for your own life and professional development. Respect your profession and approach it with integrity. Always remember that the architect of your success is you.”
