The Rector Presented Gold Medals and Honorary Diplomas to Distinguished Researchers


The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, based on the decision of the Academic Council, presented GTU Gold Medals and Honorary Diplomas to distinguished researchers and professors.

For their exceptional dedication to the university and remarkable achievements in scientific research, Professor Tsisana Basilashvili and Professor Elizbar Elizbarashvili, Chief Researchers at the GTU Institute of Hydrometeorology, together with Professor Shota Mestvirishvili, researcher and lecturer of the Faculty of Construction, were awarded the Georgian Technical University Gold Medal. At the same Academic Council meeting, Professor Kakha Gorgadze, Chief Researcher at the “Talgha” Institute and a member of the Academic Council, was presented with the GTU Honorary Diploma.

According to Academician David Gurgenidze, the Academic Council’s decision reflects the recipients’ decades of dedicated service, professionalism, and invaluable contributions to the university’s academic and scientific development. According to the rector, they make a significant contribution to the academic and scientific success of the Georgian Technical University and to the upbringing of worthy generations.

“It is a great honor to recognize the achievements of those scientists, researchers, and educators whose professionalism, dedication, and lifelong commitment have made an enduring contribution to the development of the Georgian Technical University and Georgian science.

I sincerely congratulate our esteemed colleagues – Professors Tsisana Basilashvili and Elizbar Elizbarashvili, Chief Researchers of the Institute of Hydrometeorology, and Professor Shota Mestvirishvili of the Faculty of Construction – on receiving the University Gold Medal. I also congratulate Professor Kakha Gorgadze, Chief Researcher at the “Talgha” Institute and a member of the Academic Council, on receiving the Honorary Diploma. These distinctions recognize their outstanding scientific achievements, many years of dedicated service, and invaluable contribution to educating future generations.

The honorary distinction was established by the Academic Council’s decision in 2022, marking the 100th anniversary of Georgian Technical University.
