Farewell Event for International Students Held at GTU
“Dear students, I warmly congratulate you on the successful completion of your studies at the Georgian Technical University – the only century-old higher engineering institution in the South Caucasus. You have successfully completed an important stage of your professional development, which will serve as the foundation of your future success. I am confident that the education you have received at our university will help you become highly qualified professionals and represent both your home countries and the Georgian Technical University with distinction on the international stage. You are valued members of the international family of the Georgian Technical University. During your studies, you embraced a new culture, built lasting friendships, gained valuable knowledge, and acquired experiences that I am certain will benefit you throughout your lives. Thank you for choosing the Georgian Technical University. I wish you every success, continued professional growth, and the achievement of your most important goals.” – This was stated by GTU Vice-Rector, Professor Tamar Lominadze, at the farewell event for international students graduating from the 2025/2026 academic year.
A farewell event for the graduating international students of the 2025/2026 academic year was held at Georgian Technical University, with representatives of the university administration, academic staff, and students in attendance. The event was opened by Vice-Rector Professor Tamar Lominadze.
In her welcoming address, the Vice-Rector thanked the international students on behalf of the university for their active engagement and successful academic achievements. She noted that international students make a significant contribution to the university’s internationalization and help create a diverse, multicultural academic environment.
Professor Lominadze wished the graduates success in their future endeavors and expressed her hope that the knowledge and experience they gained at the Georgian Technical University would play an important role in their professional development and that their connection with the university would continue in the years ahead.
“Today, the Georgian Technical University has firmly established itself within the international educational community, as demonstrated by the steadily growing interest of international students. Academic fields such as architecture, construction, business technologies, informatics, sustainable mountain development, and design are particularly popular. These disciplines respond to the demands of the modern labor market and provide students with the opportunity to receive a competitive education. The fact that students from many different countries choose these programs clearly demonstrates the high quality of the Georgian Technical University’s educational programs, their compliance with international standards, and their alignment with the requirements of the global labor market. It is especially important for us that the university is not simply a place where international students receive an education, but a community where they gain professional knowledge, experience cultural diversity, build international friendships, and enjoy a welcoming academic environment.”
– Professor Tamar Lominadze
According to Lela Chikovani Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations at GTU, the Georgian Technical University filled 89% of the places allocated for international students during the 2024/2025 academic year, while enrollment for the 2025/2026 academic year has increased significantly.
“Interest in the Georgian Technical University among international students continues to grow each year, reflecting the university’s increasing international recognition and the high quality of its educational programs. During the 2024/2025 academic year, 89% of the places allocated for international students were filled, while enrollment for the 2025/2026 academic year has increased significantly, demonstrating growing international demand. This achievement is the result of the university’s consistent efforts to strengthen international cooperation, ensure an accessible and transparent admission process for international applicants, and develop modern educational programs aligned with international standards.
Today, the Georgian Technical University is an attractive destination for students from many countries worldwide. There is particularly strong interest in architecture, construction, business technologies, informatics, and design, confirming that our academic programs meet both international educational standards and the demands of today’s global labor market. Our goal is not only to increase the number of international students but also to provide them with an academic and cultural environment where they can receive a high-quality education, develop professionally, and gain valuable international experience. For this reason, we will continue to expand our global partnership network and further strengthen the university’s internationalization process.”
