The 13th International Scientific and Technical Conference of the Institute of Water Management Held at the GTU

Institute of Water Management, titled “Modern Problems of Water Management, Environmental Protection, Architecture and Construction,” was held at the Georgian Technical University.

Dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, the conference aimed to discuss current challenges and innovative solutions in water management, environmental protection, architecture, and construction, while further strengthening international scientific cooperation.

The conference brought together scientists and experts from higher education institutions and research organizations in Georgia and abroad, including members of the scientific and academic community, doctoral students, and young researchers from the Georgian Technical University; academicians of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences; and scientific delegations and guests from universities and research institutes in Georgia, Italy, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Poland, Ukraine, China, Belarus, Jordan, India, and Uzbekistan.

Among the distinguished guests were Professor Rakesh Kumar, Secretary General of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID); Professor Irina Bondarik, President of the Eastern European Irrigation and Drainage Organization (EEIDO); Professor Farda Imanov, Vice-Rector of Baku State University; and Professor Hovhannes Tokmajyan, Director of the Academician I.V. Yeghiazarov Scientific Research Institute of Water Problems and Hydraulic Engineering of Armenia.

According to Professor Tamar Lominadze, Vice-Rector of the Georgian Technical University, the fields of water management, environmental protection, architecture, and construction have become increasingly important in the context of sustainable development, climate change, and the implementation of modern engineering solutions. She emphasized that international scientific dialogue and collaborative research are essential for addressing these global challenges.

According to Academician Givi Gavardashvili, Director of the Academician Tsotne Mirtskhulava Institute of Water Management at GTU, this international scientific and technical conference has, for many years, served as an important academic platform, bringing together scientists, researchers, and practitioners to discuss contemporary challenges and innovative approaches in the field.

During the conference, participants presented scientific papers and exchanged views on a wide range of topics, including sustainable water resource management, environmental protection measures, hydraulic engineering structures, modern construction technologies, innovative architectural solutions, and the application of international best practices.
