GTU Students Become Scholarship Holders of the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation
“It is especially valuable for the university to support talented, hardworking, and purposeful students, to strengthen their motivation, promote their desire for knowledge, and encourage their pursuit of professionalism. This inspires other young people and gives them confidence that their efforts will be recognized. Such an approach is vital for the sustainable future of Georgia,” said Vice-Rector of Georgian Technical University, Professor Tamar Tsereteli, at the anniversary event of the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation, where scholarships were awarded to high-achieving students from the foundation’s partner state universities.
Four students with the highest academic performance from four faculties of Georgian Technical University have become scholarship holders of the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation. The foundation will provide each of them with a monthly scholarship during the spring semester of the current academic year.
The following bachelor’s students, who achieved the highest academic results in the first semester, were awarded scholarships: Mariam Janiashvili (Faculty of Construction); Guram Natsvlishvili (Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Design); Nana Labadze (Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Biosystems Engineering); and Lizi Bagashvili (Faculty of Mining Geology and Sustainable Mountain Development).
The 20 scholarship recipients selected from partner higher education institutions met with the Foundation’s founder, businessman and philanthropist Tamaz Bekaia; the Director of the Educational Foundation, Levan Bekaia; and the Head of Projects, Goga Chanadiri, at the exhibition hall of the National Library of Georgia. They introduced students to the Foundation’s current and future initiatives, congratulated on their achievements, and presented with certificates of success. Each scholarship recipient will receive a monthly stipend of 300 GEL throughout the semester.
Alongside the scholarship recipients, the event marking the 5th anniversary of the Foundation was attended by rectors, vice-rectors, representatives of six partner state universities, as well as public school principals and guests. Among them were GTU Vice-Rector, Tamar Tsereteli; Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Construction, Professor Gina Gureshidze; Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Design Associate Professor Tamar Chanturia, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Chemical Technologies, Professor Gia Chichinadze, and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Mining Geology and Sustainable Mountain Development Nino Maisuradze.
At the award ceremony, GTU scholarship recipients expressed their gratitude to the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation and Georgian Technical University. They noted that receiving a scholarship is not only financial support but also a significant responsibility. It motivates them to deepen their knowledge and achieve further academic success. They emphasized that the Foundation’s scholarship, combined with the state scholarship, enables them to dedicate themselves entirely to their studies, participate more actively in scientific research, and apply their knowledge to contribute to the country’s future development.
Vice-Rector Tamar Tsereteli, on behalf of Georgian Technical University, congratulated the Foundation on its anniversary, thanked it for supporting students and enhancing youth motivation, and wished the scholarship holders success.
“On behalf of Georgian Technical University and its Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze, we congratulate the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation and its founder on this anniversary. The Foundation’s consistent support for talented and hardworking young people is highly appreciated, as it significantly contributes to the development of their academic potential and strengthens the country’s intellectual resources. As a higher engineering and technological institution, we consider initiatives that enhance academic motivation and enable young people to focus on their professional and scientific development to be of utmost importance. We thank the Foundation for its valuable work and believe our cooperation will continue through even larger and more productive projects. We wish the scholarship holders good health, continued success, and, most importantly, personal and professional growth for the benefit of Georgia.”
